Abstract

Claims (10)

1. Double-action door-closing mechanism, of the type comprising a pivot (8) whereof the rotation is linked with the movement of the door and a control device (14-25-29-26-27) comprising a damper (27) and a return spring (26), said pivot (8) meshing permanently with two parallel racks (10, 11) arranged in facing relationship, characterised in that selective connection means (12-1 7 -2 l; 33-34-37) are provided which, for each direction of rotation of the pivot (8), connect one of the two racks (10, 11) to the control device (14-25-29-26-27) during the opening travel and disconnect this rack and the said control device at the end of the closing travel.
2. Door-closing mechanism according to claim 1, characterised in that the selective connecting means (12-17-21) comprise a rocking lever (21) supported by the control device (14-25-29-26-27) and comprising a hook (24) normally located on the trajectories of a projection (12) of each rack (10, 11), the casing (5-6-7) of the door-closing mechanism (1) comprising an abutment (17) operated by the rocking lever (21) at the end of the closing travel in order to move this hook away from said trajectories.
3. Door-closing mechanism according to claim 2, characterised in that the rocking lever (21) is an L-shaped lever with two arms (22, 23), whereof one arm (23) supports the hook (24) and the other (22) operates said abutment (17) of the casing (5-6-7).

Door-closing mechanism according to one of claims 2 and 3, characterised in that the rocking lever (21) is pivoted about a horizontal pivot (20), the projections (12) of the racks (10, 11) being constituted by horizontal lugs located one in the extension of the other in the inoperative position of the door-closing mechanism (1).
5. Door-closing mechanism according to claim 4, characterised in that the rocking lever (21) is biased towards its hooking position by gravity.
6. Door-closing mechanism according to one of claims 4 and 5, characterised in that means (22a) are provided for locking the rocking lever (21) in the hooking position.
7. Door-closing mechanism according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the selective connecting means (12-17-21) connect each rack (10, 11) to a piston (14) connected by a connecting-rod (29) to a rotating lever (25) of the control device (14-25-29-26-27), this piston being pushed directly by the rack during the opening travel.
8. Door-closing mechanism according to claim 7, characterised in that the piston (14) supports a ball (32) cooperating with a spring strip (16) in order to form a door stop at the end of the opening travel.
9. Door-closing mechanism according to claim 8, characterised in that an intermediate part of the spring strip (16) rests on a cam (19) making it possible to move this strip away from the ball.
10. Door-closing mechanism according to claim 1, characterised in that the selective connecting means (33-34-37) comprise a movable member (34) which passes with clearance through a longitudinal rod (33) of the control device (14-25-29-26-27) and relief portions (36) of each rack (10, 11) which move the movable member laterally towards the other rack in order to connect this member to this other rack when the pinion (9) rotates in the corresponding direction.
