It has been shown that when these foam parts are mixed with the crimped fibers, these fibers automatically loop around the foam strips and largely envelop them. As a result, the slidability of the foam strips on one another is increased considerably, so that the filling material is reliably prevented from getting caught or clumping together. In addition, these crimped fibers 2 additionally give the contents a loose and softer character, which of course also depends on the mixing ratio.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a filling material for upholstery, seats, pillows or beds with approximately strip-shaped sections made of polyurethane plastic foam.
There have been several attempts to replace the expensive feather or down fillings of upholstery or cushions with any or specially shaped foam sections. The problem has arisen, however, that these foam particles do not slide on one another like springs, but interlock with one another, so that these foam sections form lumps and not only unintentionally change the shape of the cushion part, but also the softness and elasticity of the cushion or Adversely affect pillows, while shaking the pillows helps little, so that the use of such cushions is significantly restricted.
In order to prevent the described jamming or clumping, it has already been proposed to add silicone oil to the mixture of the foam parts. This silicone oil provides a significantly better sliding property of the individual foam strips. The disadvantage here, however, is that the foam parts wetted with this silicone oil must neither be washed nor cleaned, since otherwise the sliding effect disappears and the large coefficient of friction of the polyurethane foam and the tendency to get caught in turn have a negative effect.
In addition, it is known from DE-AS 26 02 706 to cut the foam bodies as regular square bars with smooth surfaces in order to largely avoid the risk of getting caught. But even this measure can not avoid that the individual foam parts slide on each other with difficulty. The present invention is therefore based on the object to provide a filler, which in its base material also consists of small polyurethane foam parts and is particularly suitable for processing in upholstery, pillows or the like, but which does not form lumps and which is in its behavior largely approximates the behavior of natural fillers such as down or feathers.
To achieve this object, starting from a filling material of the type mentioned at the outset, the invention provides that crimped fibers are added to the small foam parts in a mixing ratio of 10: 1 to 1: 1.
With such a mixture of foam particles with crimped fibers, which according to an advantageous development of the invention can consist of crimped synthetic fibers, it has surprisingly been shown that these fibers lie tightly around the small foam parts and thus envelop them intimately, which then results in a very good result Sliding the individual lines together results in an additional cushioning effect due to the crimping of the fibers.
For padding, it is known from DE-OS 27 31 108 and DE-AS 27 51 688 to mix natural fillers such as feathers or down with plastic fibers. However, this does not happen in order to prevent the filling material from clumping together, but rather only to stretch the relatively expensive natural filling material or to achieve increased thermal insulation. The mixing ratios are also different in the known applications.
For the present purposes of the invention, a special polyester fiber, such as is supplied by BAYER AG under the name Vestan 16, X 177, and which has a fiber length of approximately 30 mm, has proven to be particularly favorable.
Within the scope of the invention, a wide variety of polyurethane synthetic foams can be worked up and used for small parts the; However, it has been shown that in particular a polyurethane synthetic foam with a bulk density between 30 and 85 kg / m can be used particularly advantageously.
As already mentioned, the mixing ratio for the filling material according to the invention should be approximately 10: 1 to 1: 1 (parts by weight). A mixing ratio of 1: 1 is recommended for very voluminous, soft fillings, while a mixing ratio of 10: 1 should be used for slippery, antistatic fillings. In any case, the mixing ratios depend on the bulk densities of the foam types used and the intended use of the cushion or cushion filled with the filler according to the invention.
Dabei zeigen
- Fig. 1 einen einzelnen Schaumstoffstreifen mit Fasern und
- Fig. 1 shows a single foam strip with fibers and
- Fig. 2 shows a cluster of several small foam parts with the corresponding fibers.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the
In Fig. 2 several
