Description

The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner with a speed-controllable fan motor and a socket arranged on the housing of the vacuum cleaner for connecting an electrically driven brush attachment.

In such a commercially available vacuum cleaner, the suction power can be adapted to the respective circumstances by corresponding speed control of the blower motor. If a brush attachment is connected to the vacuum cleaner socket, it will run at a constant high speed. So you can reduce the suction power in the known vacuum cleaner to protect a sensitive carpet, but not the speed of the brush attachment.

The invention has for its object to design a vacuum cleaner so that in addition to reducing the suction power, a reduction in the speed of the brush attachment device is possible, whereby blocking of the brush attachment device should be excluded.

The solution of the problem is achieved according to the invention in that the motor of the brush attachment is connected via the socket to the speed control circuit of the blower motor in parallel with it and via a switching device actuated as a function of the connection of the brush attachment, the setting range of the common speed control circuit for safe operation the value of the brush attachment device can be limited. It is thus ensured in such a vacuum cleaner that the speed of the brush attachment device is correspondingly reduced when the suction power is reduced. Depending on the connection of a brush attachment, a minimum suction power and thus also a minimum speed of the brushes of the attachment is fixed. If the brush attachment is not connected, however, the suction power of the vacuum cleaner can be reduced further for special applications (suction of curtains).

According to one embodiment of the invention, the suction power and the brush speed are limited to a certain value in that the switching device consists of a contact which can be actuated by the plug which can be plugged into the socket, via which part of a variable resistor forming the control range is bridged or also thereby, that the switching device consists of a current relay, the winding of which is located in one line of the socket and via the contact of which part of a variable resistor forming the control range is bridged.

The subject of the application is described in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. It shows
  • 1 shows a speed control circuit for the blower motor of a vacuum cleaner, in which the adjustment range is limited by a contact which can be inserted into the socket,
  • Fig. 2 shows a speed control circuit for the blower motor of a vacuum cleaner, in which the adjustment range is limited by the contact of a current relay arranged in the socket circuit.

This blower motor can be switched with its one connection via a switch 2 to phase R of an AC voltage network. A speed control circuit 3 is connected between the other connection of the blower motor 1 and the center conductor Mp of the AC voltage network. This speed control circuit 3 has a triac 4, to which an RC element consisting of an ohmic resistor 5 and a capacitor 6 is connected in parallel. Furthermore, a control circuit 7 is connected in parallel with the triac 4 between the relevant connection of the blower motor 1 and the center conductor Mp of the AC voltage network. The control circuit 7 consists of the series connection of a first and second ohmic resistor 8 and 9 with a control capacitor 10 and a variable resistor 11 connected in parallel with the first ohmic resistor 8. Between the second ohmic resistor 9 and the control capacitor 10, the triac 4 with its control circuit is over a control resistor 12 and a trigger diode 13 connected. In parallel to the connections of the blower motor 1, the plug contacts 14 and 15 of a socket arranged on the vacuum cleaner housing and serving for the connection of a brush attachment are connected.

The variable resistor 11 is provided with a fixed tap 16. This tap 16 is connected to a contact 17 which is actuated when a plug is inserted into the socket (indicated by line 18) and thus bridges part of the variable resistor 11.

In Fig. The fixed tap 16 of the variable resistor 11 is connected to a contact 19 of a current relay 20 connected into a line of the socket. If a brush attachment is connected to the plug contacts 14 and 15 of the socket, the current relay 20 is energized and closes its contact 19, which also bridges part of the variable resistor 11.

By bridging a part of the variable resistor 11, the speed control circuit 3 is given a minimum value for the speed of the blower motor 1. Since the plug contacts 14 and 15 parallel to the blower motor 1 this minimum value also applies to the brush attachment. Since the contacts 17 and 19 can only be actuated depending on the connection of a brush attachment, the specification of the minimum value for the speed control circuit 3 is only effective when a brush attachment is connected. If the vacuum cleaner is operated without a brush attachment, the full speed control range can be used. The specification of a minimum value when connecting a brush attachment device ensures that the brush attachment device receives sufficient voltage to prevent blocking.
