Definitions
- the invention relates to a sliding contact for a toy train for drawing power from the two rails of a track system, consisting of two contact pins fastened to the toy train via a holding plate, each contact pin being arranged above a rail.
- contact pins which are arranged on holding plates on the toy train and which slide directly on the rails. Due to the rigid connection of the contact pins to the toy train, they move to a small extent out of the rail track in the case of track curvatures, track branches and switches.
- the invention has for its object to provide a sliding contact that enables track-safe contacting without involving the wheels in the contact.
- this is achieved in that the ends of the two connector pins in a groove guide one on both driving rails sliding slip bridge intervene that the slip bridge on the track is guided by two track pins each lying on the inside of the two rails, and that there is an electrical connection between the rails and the contact pins via the slip bridge.
- the groove guide enables a transverse displacement between the sliding bridge and contact pins without the electrical connection from the travel rail via the sliding bridge being torn off to the contact pins.
- the contact pins that move out of the lane on bends, branches and switches. Due to the possibility of displacement between the slip bridge and the contact pins in electrical connection with the rails, since the slip bridge is guided on the track by the track pins on the inside of the two rails. If the traction current is supplied exclusively by the two guideways, with one guideway connected to the plus and the other guideway to the minus conductor of the power source, the two halves of the slip bridge must be insulated from each other.
- the slot guide of the grinding bridge can be designed as a T-slot and the ends of the contact pins can be provided with a bead which fits into the T-slot. This design makes it possible to hang the grinding bridge in the contact pins.
- the two ends of the groove guide can be closed or closable. This measure in conjunction with the previous design results in a bond between the contact pins and the sliding bridge, which prevents the sliding bridge from detaching from the contact pins when the toy train is removed from the tracks.
- the sanding bridge can be an injection molded part made of plastic, the groove guide of which is covered with contact plate extending up to the sliding surfaces of the sanding bridge.
- the contact plate establishes the electrical connection from the travel rail to the groove guide and thus to the contact pins.
- the sliding bridge in the case of a track fed by traction current via both rails on the one hand and a center conductor on the other hand, can electrically connect the two contact pins to one another and, in addition, a pantograph sliding on the center conductor can be arranged on the toy train.
- the sanding bridge can be made entirely of an electrically conductive material.
- the sliding contact consists of the two contact pins 2 inserted in a holding plate 1 and the sliding bridge 3 placed on the ends of the contact pins.
- the holding plate 1 with the two contact pins 2 arranged above the rails is fastened to the toy train 4 via connecting means.
- the contact pins consist of two parts 2 a, 2 b which are plugged together telescopically, one part being pressed into the holding plate and the other movable part allowing a height compensation by means of a spring 5.
- the free ends of the contact pins are in a groove guide 6 of the sliding bridge 3.
- the groove guide allows the contact pins 2 to be moved relative to the sliding bridge 3 without the electrical connection from the running rail 7 via the sliding bridge 3 to the contact pins 2 being torn off.
- This transverse displacement occurs when the toy train travels over a curve, switch or branch, since the contact pins move out of the rail track at a curve due to the rigid connection to the toy train, while the grinding bridges 3 move through their track pins resting on the inside of the rails 8 is kept in the track.
- the track pins therefore ensure that the sliding surfaces 9 of the sliding bridge 3, which bring about contact with the running rails, are always on the running rails 7.
- the traction current feed is provided via a center conductor 10 and via the two rails 7 which have the same potential.
- the sliding bridge 3 can electrically connect the two contact pins 2 to one another and consequently be made entirely of a current-conducting material, for example brass.
- the groove guide 6 of the sliding bridge 3 is designed as a T-groove and the ends of the contact pins 2 are provided with beads 12 which engage in the undercut 11 of the groove.
- the contact pins are inserted into the groove guide from one open side of the groove guide, which is closed by a wall plate 13 after insertion.
- a bore 14 is provided in the sliding surface 9 of the sliding bridge 3, the edge of which bores off the dust settling on the rails when it is passed over. Furthermore, this hole prevents the formation of a layer of dirt on the sliding surface, which would lead to a disturbance in the current transfer.
- the sliding bridge 3 consists of an injection molded part made of plastic, to which two contact plates 15, each starting from the sliding surfaces 9 of the sliding bridge and bent into the groove guide on both sides, are fastened by riveting, gluing or the like. Since both contact plates are separated from each other, this type of sliding contact is suitable for tracks on which the travel current only via the two rails, one of which is connected to the negative conductor and the other of which is connected to the positive conductor.
- both open sides of the groove guide 6 are closed with a wall plate 13 each.

Description
The invention relates to a sliding contact for a toy train for drawing power from the two rails of a track system, consisting of two contact pins fastened to the toy train via a holding plate, each contact pin being arranged above a rail.
In the case of toy railways, power is usually drawn from the rails via the wheels, which either consist entirely or at least have their wheel rim made of electrically conductive material. The traction current is then removed from the wheels via sliding contacts and passed on to drive the toy train. To enable switches to be driven over, at least two pairs of wheels are required for power consumption. Due to the metal contact of the wheels on the rails, there is low rolling friction, which causes the wheels on the rails to spin even at low loads. In the case of light fairways made of plastic parts, it is therefore customary to manufacture the wheels from plastic and to provide them with a rubber ring which increases the rolling friction. However, this means that the wheels cannot be used to draw power. In such railways, the current is drawn via contact pins, which are arranged on holding plates on the toy train and which slide directly on the rails. Due to the rigid connection of the contact pins to the toy train, they move to a small extent out of the rail track in the case of track curvatures, track branches and switches.
The invention has for its object to provide a sliding contact that enables track-safe contacting without involving the wheels in the contact.
According to the invention this is achieved in that the ends of the two connector pins in a groove guide one on both driving rails sliding slip bridge intervene that the slip bridge on the track is guided by two track pins each lying on the inside of the two rails, and that there is an electrical connection between the rails and the contact pins via the slip bridge.
By engaging the contact pins in the slot guide of the slip bridge, it is moved over the two travel rails. At the same time, the groove guide enables a transverse displacement between the sliding bridge and contact pins without the electrical connection from the travel rail via the sliding bridge being torn off to the contact pins. The contact pins that move out of the lane on bends, branches and switches.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the slot guide of the grinding bridge can be designed as a T-slot and the ends of the contact pins can be provided with a bead which fits into the T-slot. This design makes it possible to hang the grinding bridge in the contact pins.
In a further addition to the invention, the two ends of the groove guide can be closed or closable. This measure in conjunction with the previous design results in a bond between the contact pins and the sliding bridge, which prevents the sliding bridge from detaching from the contact pins when the toy train is removed from the tracks.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the sanding bridge can be an injection molded part made of plastic, the groove guide of which is covered with contact plate extending up to the sliding surfaces of the sanding bridge. The contact plate establishes the electrical connection from the travel rail to the groove guide and thus to the contact pins.
Finally, in a supplement to the invention, in the case of a track fed by traction current via both rails on the one hand and a center conductor on the other hand, the sliding bridge can electrically connect the two contact pins to one another and, in addition, a pantograph sliding on the center conductor can be arranged on the toy train. In this application, the sanding bridge can be made entirely of an electrically conductive material.

- FIG. 2 shows the sliding contact according to FIG. 1 in cross section,
- Figure 3 shows a variant of the sliding contact in longitudinal section.
The sliding contact consists of the two
In the embodiment variant according to FIG. 3, the
