Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for producing a vessel, with an essentially cylindrical jacket which merges at the bottom into a bottom formed integrally with it.
- a method has become known from US Pat. No. 3,556,032 with which a very thin-walled can with a curved base is produced by a rolling process.
- an arrangement of four balls is used, two of which lie opposite each other and are cushioned in the radial direction.
- the balls are in spherical caps; so that they do not rotate in the circumferential direction when the rolling process is initiated by rotating a central die with simultaneous axial movement of the rolling tool.
- the floor is also processed using a rolling tool that is guided around the edges between the floor and the casing. In this area the wall thickness is somewhat larger than in the rest of the jacket.
- DE-PS 879 797, DE-OS 24 53 374 and CH-PS 297 494 have made the deep-drawing of such vessels known.
- the upper edge of the jacket can be flanged by a rolling process.
- the object of the invention is to provide an improved method and an apparatus with which a cooking vessel with a flat bottom can be produced with simple manufacture and with a minimum of post-processing.
- This object is achieved according to the invention in that the deformation of the stainless steel vessel serving as a flat-bottomed cooking vessel is effected by a large number (more than four) of balls which are themselves rotatable but are held immovably in the radial direction.
- the device suitable for solving the task which has a molded part with essentially cylindrical shaped surfaces and an associated rolling tool with balls, which are rotatable and axially movable relative to one another, is characterized in that the rolling tool consists of a rigid outer ring with a circumferential groove consists in which a large number (more than four balls) balls are arranged all around and rotatable about themselves.
- the jacket which is much thinner than the blank and thus the base, is preferably produced in one operation without intermediate heat treatment.
- a particularly preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention provides that the bottom of the vessel is kept flat and level in that in the region of the jacket adjoining the bottom, before the roll-stretching of the jacket, a part of the material forming the jacket by means of the balls is deformed radially inwards, preferably into a cavity formed between the molded part and the blank. There is therefore a cavity between the blank and the molded part in the section adjacent to the base. If the rolling process now begins from the bottom side, the full radial rolling pressure is not immediately applied, which could expose the bottom to a compression and thus to a bulge outwards. Rather, a radially inward deformation into the cavity is first possible, and then the roll stretching only begins with the full degree of stretching.
- FIG. 1 shows a molded part 11 in the form of an essentially cylindrical stamp which can be driven in rotation by a molding machine 12.
- the lateral surface of the molded part 11 forms a molded surface which consists of a cylindrical section 13 and a slightly conical section 14 in the region of the end face 15 of the molded part.
- the molded part 11 consists of a very hard material and the molded surfaces 13, 14 are highly polished and possibly hard chrome-plated.
- a cup-shaped blank 15 can be pushed onto the molded part 11, which is made from a disc made of stainless steel and is preferably 2 to 4 mm thick.
- the inner diameter of the cylindrical jacket 16 of the blank corresponds to the outer diameter of the cylindrical shaped surface section 13 and extends into it. Between the inner surface and the conical shape Section 14 thus creates a cavity 17.
- the flat bottom 18 of the blank 15 produced from a plate by a drawing or stamping process lies against the flat end face 45 of the molded part 11.
- the jacket 16 has almost the same wall thickness as the bottom 18.
- Figure 2 shows the rolling process with which the shell 16 of the blank is considerably reduced in wall thickness, so that a saucepan with a high, thin-walled shell 19 is formed from the flat bowl.
- a rolling tool 20 is used for rolling, which resembles a heavy ball bearing, which is pushed onto the blank on the molded part 11 from the bottom without rotation and simultaneous axial feed without an inner ring.
- the outer ring 21 which is mounted in a pressure ring 22 of the molding machine 12 and can be moved axially over the molding and back again by a feed device 23, which is symbolized as a hydraulic cylinder but can also work mechanically.
- the outer ring 21 has on its inside a circumferential groove 24 which is somewhat wider than it would correspond to the balls 25 running therein.
- the side faces of the groove are formed by roundings 26, 27 corresponding to the balls in the radius of curvature.
- the connecting surface 28 between the roundings 26, 27 runs so obliquely (at an angle ⁇ ) that the groove is narrower in the region located at the rear in the feed direction 29 (in the rounding 26) than in the rounding 27.
- a large number of balls 25 (for example 15) are provided, which are guided by a cage 30.
- the groove 24 is particularly deep, in particular in the area of the rounding 26 loaded during the rolling process, and extends as far as the cage 30 permits into the central area of the balls.
- the boundary wall in the region of the rounding 27 does not have to be as deep.
- the slope of the connecting surface 28 is exaggerated for clarity. It is sufficient if the ball in the groove 24 has some axial play and can move outwards by a few tenths of a millimeter. The transition could also be staged.
- the rolling process takes place as follows:
- the rolling tool 20 in FIG. 1 is moved from below to the blank rotating with the molded part 11, then the balls 25 touch the edge 31 between the jacket 16 and the bottom 18 in the manner shown in dash-dotted lines Figure 2 (working position) is substantially smaller than the outer diameter of the blank jacket 16, but thicker than the cylindrical shaped surface section 13 by the thickness of the vessel jacket 19.
- the jacket material lying in the area of the edge 31 is essentially the first pressed radially inward into the cavity 17, so that in this area the forces exerted by the rolling tool are still considerably lower than during the further rolling process. In particular, there is no substantial immersion of the bottom 18 so that it remains level. Surprisingly, the bending forces in the area of the edge 31 also do not cause the floor to bulge.
- the material stretching produced by the rolling process becomes ever stronger and the material "flows" upwards in front of the rolling tool. It is deformed or reshaped, receives great strength and toughness and a compacted, crack-free and bare surface that normally does not need to be polished anymore.
- the balls rotate around themselves and the molded part rotates in the groove in a rolling motion . Due to the very large number of balls, which preferably have an odd number, so that each ball is in "Three-point support" on two opposite supports, together with a relatively high peripheral speed of the molded part 11, which rotates with respect to the non-rotatable outer ring 21 of the rolling tool, this surface finishing is achieved simultaneously with the roll-stretching process. It is also possible to rotate the rolling tool and / or to move the molded part axially.
- the vessel 32 is completed, i.e. the jacket 19 rolled out to its full height.
- the rolling process is stopped somewhat below the upper edge of the vessel 33, so that the full thickness of the material of the blank, possibly increased by a bead running in front of the rolling tool, remains there and forms an edge reinforcement 34 with a rolled fillet 35.
- the finished vessel (FIG. 5) can be reshaped on the inner edge of the upper edge by means of a rolling tool 36 or by machining in order to create a pouring edge. It is also possible, according to the variant according to FIG. 6, to provide the molded part 11 'with an outwardly rounded fillet 37 which adjoins the cylindrical shaped surface 13' and which forms an inner rounding of the edge bead 34 'during the rolling process.
- the rolling process should preferably be switched off depending on the feed force in order to avoid excessive forces at the end of the rolling process, if the residual material contained in the bead 34 'is of different sizes due to material tolerances.
- FIGS. 2 and 5 in particular also show the shape of the jacket region 39 adjoining the bottom, which is formed when the mold surface section 14 is conical. Normally, the cavity 17 is not completely filled by the material, so that a narrow cylindrical section 40 and then a conical section 41 adjoin the bottom 18 over a radius.
- the shaped surface section 14 does not necessarily have to be conical. It could also have a curved or slightly offset shape.
- the vessel used as a saucepan only has to be provided with handles afterwards and can also be used without reworking the bottom. Because of its flatness, the relatively thick base 18 transfers the heat from a flat electric hotplate to the inside of the vessel and ensures an even heat distribution. Due to the one-piece design without the use of composite versions, the flatness is maintained even under different heating conditions. Typical Dimensions are:
- Thickness of the bottom and section 40 2 to 3.5 mm
- the jacket runs with its continuously cylindrical outer surface close to the edge 31 'between the bottom and jacket 19 and then merges with a bend into a soft curve to the bottom.
- the material can preferably be a chromium steel with a chromium content of 14 to 18, preferably 16%.
- the thickness of the jacket 19 is between a third and a sixth of the base thickness.

Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a vessel, with an essentially cylindrical jacket which merges at the bottom into a bottom formed integrally with it.
A method has become known from US Pat. No. 3,556,032 with which a very thin-walled can with a curved base is produced by a rolling process. For this purpose, an arrangement of four balls is used, two of which lie opposite each other and are cushioned in the radial direction. The balls are in spherical caps; so that they do not rotate in the circumferential direction when the rolling process is initiated by rotating a central die with simultaneous axial movement of the rolling tool. The floor is also processed using a rolling tool that is guided around the edges between the floor and the casing. In this area the wall thickness is somewhat larger than in the rest of the jacket. With this procedure and device, it is not possible to produce cooking vessels with a thick-walled and, above all, absolutely flat base, even from very hard materials, such as stainless steel.
Es sind ferner Verfahren zur Herstellung von Gefäßen, insbesondere von Kochgefäßen aus Aluminium, bekannt geworden, bei denen der Mantel durch einen Rollvorgang mittels andrückbarer Walzen geformt und in seiner Wandstärke verringert wird (DE-PS 508 658, US-PS 2 160 975).Processes for the production of vessels, in particular cooking vessels made of aluminum, have also become known, in which the jacket is formed by a rolling process by means of press-on rollers and its wall thickness is reduced (DE-PS 508 658, US Pat. No. 2,160,975).
Aus der DE-PS 879 797, der DE-OS 24 53 374 und der CH-PS 297 494 ist das Tiefziehen derartiger Gefäße bekannt geworden. Nach der DE-OS 16 52 630 kann der obere Rand des Mantels durch einen Rollvorgang umgebördelt werden.DE-PS 879 797, DE-OS 24 53 374 and CH-PS 297 494 have made the deep-drawing of such vessels known. According to DE-OS 16 52 630, the upper edge of the jacket can be flanged by a rolling process.
All of the described procedures do not lead to perfect results. Above all, in most processes it is necessary to turn the bottom of the saucepan because it is not sufficiently level. Furthermore, surface processing usually has to be carried out afterwards, particularly in the case of deep-drawn products, in order to remove traces of processing. The flatness of the base is of great importance for the good heat transfer between the electric hotplate and the cooking vessel and thus for the efficiency of the cooking process.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved method and an apparatus with which a cooking vessel with a flat bottom can be produced with simple manufacture and with a minimum of post-processing.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the deformation of the stainless steel vessel serving as a flat-bottomed cooking vessel is effected by a large number (more than four) of balls which are themselves rotatable but are held immovably in the radial direction.
The device suitable for solving the task, which has a molded part with essentially cylindrical shaped surfaces and an associated rolling tool with balls, which are rotatable and axially movable relative to one another, is characterized in that the rolling tool consists of a rigid outer ring with a circumferential groove consists in which a large number (more than four balls) balls are arranged all around and rotatable about themselves.
The jacket, which is much thinner than the blank and thus the base, is preferably produced in one operation without intermediate heat treatment.
A particularly preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention provides that the bottom of the vessel is kept flat and level in that in the region of the jacket adjoining the bottom, before the roll-stretching of the jacket, a part of the material forming the jacket by means of the balls is deformed radially inwards, preferably into a cavity formed between the molded part and the blank.

Figure 2 shows the rolling process with which the
As can be seen from FIG. 3, a large number of balls 25 (for example 15) are provided, which are guided by a
Der Rollvorgang geht wie folgt vonstatten:The rolling process takes place as follows:
If the
With increasing diameter of the molded
In Figure 4, the
It can also be seen from FIG. 4 that when the rolling tool is withdrawn counter to the
The finished vessel (FIG. 5) can be reshaped on the inner edge of the upper edge by means of a rolling
In this case, the inner edge rounding 38, like the rest of the inner surface of the
Typische Abmessungen sind:The vessel used as a saucepan only has to be provided with handles afterwards and can also be used without reworking the bottom. Because of its flatness, the relatively

Depending on the size and purpose of the cooking vessel, these dimensions can vary upwards or downwards, but preferably not more than 20%. The jacket runs with its continuously cylindrical outer surface close to the edge 31 'between the bottom and
