Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for operating a burner for combustion systems, which has a nozzle that injects the fuel into a combustion chamber of the combustion system, and to a burner for carrying out the method.
- the generally liquid fuel is supplied to the combustion chamber separately from the combustion air and is only mixed with the combustion air after it has emerged from a nozzle which sprays the fuel as finely as possible. Difficulties arise for a precise metering of the fuel corresponding to the respective operating requirements and for an adequate preparation of the fuel in order to achieve the best possible, ie complete, combustion.
- the difficulties in fuel metering stem primarily from the fact that the relatively small amounts of fuel generally required for combustion, for example in heating systems, require extremely narrow nozzle cross sections per unit of time.
- the object on which the invention is based is therefore to create a method for operating a burner for combustion systems of the type mentioned above and a burner operating according to this method, which, while avoiding the disadvantages described above, the possibility of a more precise fuel metering and a more effective fuel preparation for the purpose Achieving more complete combustion offers.
- This object is achieved according to the inventive method in that a mixture of fuel and air is formed, which is sucked in by a pump and conveyed to the nozzle for injection into the combustion chamber.
- the decisive idea of the present invention is therefore that the liquid fuel and the gaseous air are no longer fed separately to the combustion chamber and only mixed there, but that a mixture of the fuel and at least part of the combustion air is already in front of the nozzle is brought about that this fuel-air mixture is conveyed from the pump to the nozzle and that this two-phase mixture is then introduced into the combustion chamber.
- the advantage of this measure is, on the one hand, that due to the premature mixing of fuel and combustion air before the mixture pump and the injection nozzle, an intimate mixture of the two components and in this way an effective preparation of the fuel is achieved, at least parts of the liquid fuel already pass into the gaseous state and can therefore be ignited particularly easily.
- the injection of the fuel-air mixture which is considerably more voluminous than the liquid fuel, gives the possibility of working with nozzle cross-sections which are substantially larger and thus less sensitive to tolerance and contamination, which significantly reduces the metering problems.
- the working method proposed by the invention for the burner of a combustion system also makes it possible, together with the fuel and the air, to convey additional fiber, for example for combustion, and to feed it to the combustion chamber of the combustion system.
- additional fiber for example for combustion
- the addition of this fiber, for example industrial waste or the like, before the mixture pump and the injection nozzle also causes an intimate mixing of the fiber with the fuel or the combustion air, so that the effectiveness of the combustion of this fiber can also be increased.
- the invention proposes a burner which has a mixture pump which draws in a mixture of fuel and air and which supplies a nozzle for injection into the combustion chamber.
- the mixture pump to promote the fuel and the entire combustion of the fuel he required amount of air or also to promote only a part of the amount of air required to burn the fuel.
- the nozzle can be designed as an ejector nozzle for self-suction of the remaining air volume required for the combustion of the fuel, or a special air pump is provided for conveying the remaining air volume into the combustion chamber.
- the mixture pump and a fuel pump delivering the fuel to the mixture pump can also be assigned a common drive, which can optionally also be used to drive the special air pump.
- FIG. 1 designates a combustion chamber of such a combustion system, for example a building heating system, into which an air-fuel mixture conveyed by a mixture pump 3 is injected by means of a nozzle 2 and which burns in a flame 4 after ignition by ignition means, not shown here .
- the mixture pump 3 is driven by a motor 5, preferably by an electric motor, which at the same time also drives a fuel pump 6, which conveys the fuel via a line 8 from a fuel reservoir 7 to the mixture pump 3.
- the fuel conveyed in this way is fed in the area of an intake funnel 9 to the amount of air drawn in by the mixture pump 3 from the environment and intimately mixed with the intake combustion air during the delivery by the mixture pump 3.
- the mixture pump 3 is dimensioned such that it sucks in not only the fuel but also the entire amount of air required for the combustion of the fuel; however it could it may also be expedient to have only a portion of the air quantity required for combustion sucked in directly by the mixture pump, while the remaining portion of the combustion air is only admixed to the fuel-air mixture jet emerging from the nozzle 2 within the combustion chamber 1.
- the combustion air admixed in the area of the combustion chamber is sucked in by the ejector effect of the mixture jet emerging from the nozzle, for which purpose the nozzle 2 is surrounded by an ejector-like nozzle body 10.
- Figure 2 differs from that of Figure 1 only in that the promotion of the remaining amount of air required for the combustion of the fuel is carried out by a special air pump 11, which is also driven by the engine 5 and the required combustion air via an intake port 12 draws from the environment and leads into a jacket tube 13 concentrically surrounding the nozzle 2 for mixing with the fuel-air mixture jet emerging from the nozzle 2.
- a special air pump 11 which is also driven by the engine 5 and the required combustion air via an intake port 12 draws from the environment and leads into a jacket tube 13 concentrically surrounding the nozzle 2 for mixing with the fuel-air mixture jet emerging from the nozzle 2.
- the fuel / air mixture quantity sucked in by the mixture pump 3 could also be admixed with further dietary fibers, for example industrial waste intended for combustion in the incineration plant, as well as other additives which cause this combustion.
- the mixture pump 3 no longer conveys only a two-phase mixture but, if the dietary fibers have a solid state of aggregation, even a three-phase mixture.
- the promotion of such multi-phase mixtures causes an intimate mixing of the individual components before they enter the combustion chamber, so that the conditions for their reaction are significantly improved.
- the metering of the fuel could also be carried out in a manner similar to the metering of fuel for vehicle engines by the air flow drawn in by the mixture pump, for example by inserting a baffle plate or the like which measures the amount of air drawn in and which uses a control system to discharge the fuel from a fuel system controls the fuel outlet opening under constant pressure.
- the negative pressure resulting in a Venturi nozzle acted upon by the air flow could also be used to control the fuel outlet. All of these systems are extremely simple to carry out, especially since the burners of such combustion plants are practically stationary, i.e. operated with essentially constant conditions, such as air and fuel quantity.
- spiral pumps of the type known from DE-OS 22 39 773 or 26 03 462 can advantageously be used as mixture pumps for the burners according to the invention. These are particularly well suited for conveying a two-phase or multi-phase mixture here and are characterized by a relatively pulsation-free and thus relatively noiseless run.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for operating a burner for combustion systems, which has a nozzle that injects the fuel into a combustion chamber of the combustion system, and to a burner for carrying out the method.
In conventional burners of combustion plants, the generally liquid fuel is supplied to the combustion chamber separately from the combustion air and is only mixed with the combustion air after it has emerged from a nozzle which sprays the fuel as finely as possible. Difficulties arise for a precise metering of the fuel corresponding to the respective operating requirements and for an adequate preparation of the fuel in order to achieve the best possible, ie complete, combustion. The difficulties in fuel metering stem primarily from the fact that the relatively small amounts of fuel generally required for combustion, for example in heating systems, require extremely narrow nozzle cross sections per unit of time. However, such narrow nozzle cross sections are difficult to produce with sufficient accuracy; on the other hand, even the slightest tolerances or contaminations lead to considerable deviations in the fuel quantities conveyed, so that they depend on a specific fuel quantity stopped combustion is significantly affected. The inadequate preparation of the fuel injected into the combustion chamber and ignited after mixing with the combustion air also leads to an unfavorable, ie incomplete, combustion, which has a negative effect both on fuel consumption and on the harmful exhaust gas components that occur during combustion.
The object on which the invention is based is therefore to create a method for operating a burner for combustion systems of the type mentioned above and a burner operating according to this method, which, while avoiding the disadvantages described above, the possibility of a more precise fuel metering and a more effective fuel preparation for the purpose Achieving more complete combustion offers.
This object is achieved according to the inventive method in that a mixture of fuel and air is formed, which is sucked in by a pump and conveyed to the nozzle for injection into the combustion chamber. The decisive idea of the present invention is therefore that the liquid fuel and the gaseous air are no longer fed separately to the combustion chamber and only mixed there, but that a mixture of the fuel and at least part of the combustion air is already in front of the nozzle is brought about that this fuel-air mixture is conveyed from the pump to the nozzle and that this two-phase mixture is then introduced into the combustion chamber. The advantage of this measure is, on the one hand, that due to the premature mixing of fuel and combustion air before the mixture pump and the injection nozzle, an intimate mixture of the two components and in this way an effective preparation of the fuel is achieved, at least parts of the liquid fuel already pass into the gaseous state and can therefore be ignited particularly easily. To the others, the injection of the fuel-air mixture, which is considerably more voluminous than the liquid fuel, gives the possibility of working with nozzle cross-sections which are substantially larger and thus less sensitive to tolerance and contamination, which significantly reduces the metering problems.
It is possible to either suck in the entire air quantity required for the combustion of the fuel or only a partial quantity from the mixture pump together with the fuel and have it fed to the nozzle for injection into the combustion chamber. In the event that not all of the air required for the combustion of the fuel is sucked in by the mixture pump and introduced into the combustion chamber via the nozzle, the remaining part of the combustion air can either automatically by ejector action of the fuel-air mixture jet emerging from the nozzle or but can be promoted by a special air pump.
The working method proposed by the invention for the burner of a combustion system also makes it possible, together with the fuel and the air, to convey additional fiber, for example for combustion, and to feed it to the combustion chamber of the combustion system. The addition of this fiber, for example industrial waste or the like, before the mixture pump and the injection nozzle also causes an intimate mixing of the fiber with the fuel or the combustion air, so that the effectiveness of the combustion of this fiber can also be increased.
To carry out the method, the invention proposes a burner which has a mixture pump which draws in a mixture of fuel and air and which supplies a nozzle for injection into the combustion chamber. Here, the mixture pump to promote the fuel and the entire combustion of the fuel he required amount of air or also to promote only a part of the amount of air required to burn the fuel. In the second case, the nozzle can be designed as an ejector nozzle for self-suction of the remaining air volume required for the combustion of the fuel, or a special air pump is provided for conveying the remaining air volume into the combustion chamber. According to the invention, the mixture pump and a fuel pump delivering the fuel to the mixture pump can also be assigned a common drive, which can optionally also be used to drive the special air pump.
In the drawing, embodiments of the invention are shown in a schematic representation, which are explained in more detail below. The two figures of the drawing show two different embodiments of an incinerator according to the invention. The same positions are provided with the same reference numerals. 1 designates a combustion chamber of such a combustion system, for example a building heating system, into which an air-fuel mixture conveyed by a
It is possible that the
The embodiment of Figure 2 differs from that of Figure 1 only in that the promotion of the remaining amount of air required for the combustion of the fuel is carried out by a
As is not further shown here, but has already been mentioned above, the fuel / air mixture quantity sucked in by the
In principle, the metering of the fuel could also be carried out in a manner similar to the metering of fuel for vehicle engines by the air flow drawn in by the mixture pump, for example by inserting a baffle plate or the like which measures the amount of air drawn in and which uses a control system to discharge the fuel from a fuel system controls the fuel outlet opening under constant pressure. Instead of this, the negative pressure resulting in a Venturi nozzle acted upon by the air flow could also be used to control the fuel outlet. All of these systems are extremely simple to carry out, especially since the burners of such combustion plants are practically stationary, i.e. operated with essentially constant conditions, such as air and fuel quantity.
Finally, it should be pointed out that spiral pumps of the type known from DE-OS 22 39 773 or 26 03 462 can advantageously be used as mixture pumps for the burners according to the invention. These are particularly well suited for conveying a two-phase or multi-phase mixture here and are characterized by a relatively pulsation-free and thus relatively noiseless run.
