Description
The invention relates to a converter system with a tiltable converter vessel, which is surrounded by a housing, on the ceiling of which a main exhaust line for discharging the fresh gases and a secondary exhaust line for discharging the smoke arising during charging or pouring is connected, one side wall of the housing having one Has door closable opening.
When operating a steelworks converter, exhaust gases, which mainly consist of carbon oxides and entrained FeO particles, emerge from the converter mouth during refreshing. These exhaust gases, also known as main emissions, have to be cleaned and the energy they contain may have to be extracted before they can be released into the atmosphere. Even when charging a converter with scrap and pig iron and tapping the molten steel into the ladle, there is sometimes a lot of smoke, which exhaust gases are referred to as secondary emissions or secondary exhaust gases. An even greater burden from smoke and smoke development is given in steelworks with floor-blowing converters, for example when carrying out the OBM process, since the introduction of auxiliary materials into the floor nozzles produces sparks in the form of sparks rain caused.
More recently and in more developed industrial countries, there are strict regulations for avoiding or reducing emissions, as well as regulations for increasing the safety of operating personnel. The known devices for discharging secondary exhaust gases do not meet these increased requirements. These known devices, designed as hoods, which are arranged in front of the converter mouth and connected to exhaust lines, cannot reliably absorb the secondary exhaust gases.
There is also a device of the type described at the outset, a so-called "doghouse" (DE-OS 22 33 443), in which a steelwork converter is installed on all sides with a small, but allowing a tilting distance in a housing. The converter is charged through a charging opening in a side wall of the housing, into which opening the snout of a charging pan or a charging channel can be inserted. The charging opening remains open during charging, and it is therefore unavoidable that the pollutants of the secondary emissions also escape through the charging opening, get into the atmosphere and endanger personnel safety. This danger is particularly present in OBM converters when the floor nozzles are applied.
Emissionen erzeugenden Quellen bzw. Anlagenteile ohne Behinderung des Arbeitsablaufes sicherstellt. The invention aims to avoid the disadvantages and difficulties described and has as its object to create a converter system which ensures a complete sheathing of the exhaust gases or emissions-generating sources or system parts without obstructing the workflow.
This object is achieved in a system of the defined type in that the housing is extended in the tilting direction of the converter, in which extended space a charging container, e.g. a ladle, carrying trolley, can be moved through the opening in the side wall of the housing, which opening can be completely closed in the retracted position during charging or pouring. The door for closing the opening can be designed as a sliding door, preferably in two parts.
Depending on the size of the charging container (during the tilting movement), the extended space can be higher than the rest of the space surrounding the converter, with the secondary exhaust line connecting at the highest point of the housing.
Further preferred features of the system according to the invention are that a common filter system can be provided for the main exhaust line and the secondary exhaust line, that the charging trolley is equipped with mechanical or hydraulic lifting devices for tilting the charging container, or that on the ceiling of the housing in the area of the extended space a rope hoist for tilting the charging container is provided.
The invention is explained in more detail using two exemplary embodiments in the drawing, the two FIGS. 1 and 2 each representing a side view, with one side wall of the housing being removed.
At the converter stand shown in Fig. 1, the converter is designated by 1. It is surrounded on all sides by a
The device according to FIG. 2 corresponds essentially to that of FIG. 1, only with the difference that instead of the
The system is operated in such a way that scrap is first charged in the tilted position of the converter. For this purpose, the loaded scrap chute is placed on the charging trolley outside the housing by means of a scrap manipulation crane is set and this is moved to the charging position with the door open. Then the door is closed and the tipping process is initiated. The smoke plumes generated during charging collect below the
