В заявке раскрыт способ разделения 4-[4-(диметиламино)-1-(4'-фторфенил)-1-гидроксибутил]-3-(гидроксиметил)бензонитрила как рацемической или нерацемической смеси энантиомеров на отдельные энантиомеры, включающий стадию фракционной кристаллизации 4-[4-(диметиламино)-1-(4'-фторфенил)-1-гидроксибутил]-3-(гидроксиметил)бензонитрила в форме соли с (+)-(S,S)- или (-)-(R,R)-энантиомером О,О'-ди-п-толуол-винной кислоты в системе растворителей, включающей 1-пропанол, этанол или ацетонитрил.
