Abstract

The granules are made from fine-grained material based on carbon and a binder. The method includes the following stages: mixing the said material and the binder and agglomerating the mixture thus obtained by tumbling. Tumbling action, for example in a rotating drum, serves to agglomerate the particles and bind the mixture into granules, usually with a variable size distribution. There is no need to apply mechanical compression forces, and using the binders used, the method can be carried out at ambient temperature. The method provides a simple but effective process for recycling waste carbon-based materials and obtaining a usable fuel product that is easily transported and burned efficiently. Rotary drum or bowl sintering plants are relatively inexpensive and can provide very high throughputs. It is possible to produce products according to individual technical requirements of customers. The method increases the efficiency of ash removal and sulfur removal at coal processing plants.
