Abstract
In an optical waveguide having a core and a cladding, in which the refractive index of the cladding drops in the inner region thereof, the refractive index of the core first rises from the outside in, then runs flatter or remains constant, then rises once again and then runs flatter or falls to a constant lower refractive index.
