Description

The present invention relates to a bag opening device for opening a bag containing bagged goods.
Although applicable to any bag, the present invention and underlying problems are explained in more detail in respect of bags which contain fine-grained or powdery materials for use in the manufacture of flooring bases and floor constructions.
So far it is known to the applicant to cut the bag containing bagged goods in a transverse direction at the upper end face by the use of a blade or scissors and to turn the bag over to empty the bagged goods into a bucket or the like. However, the fact that considerable force is required in order to turn the bag over and that part of the bagged goods is emptied adjacent to the bucket rather than into the bucket when turning the bag over has proven to be a disadvantage.
The applicant is also aware that a single spike is provided on a corresponding receptacle for receiving the bagged goods in order to make a hole in the lower end face of the bag. It has been shown to be a disadvantage that the bag has to be moved sideways in order to allow a longitudinal slit to be made. Furthermore, only an unsatisfactory exit opening is provided and the pouring of the bagged goods via this exit opening of the bag is unsatisfactory. US-A-2 576 492 describes a straight bag opening device equipped with a plurality of points. To open the bag, it is placed on several pointed cutting devices simultaneously. This spreads the weight of the bag over several cutting devices, thereby reducing the surface pressure per cutting device.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a bag opening device for opening a bag containing bagged goods which eliminates the above-mentioned disadvantages and guarantees an improved bag emptying process.
The object of the invention is achieved by the bag opening device with the features of claim 1.
The idea underlying the present invention features a bag opening device for opening a bag containing bagged goods which has a fixing device for fixing the bag opening device to an associated bagged goods receptacle and a serrated bridge connected to the fixing device which is curved upwards in the direction of the upper face and whose upper face has one or more points for opening the bag.
The present invention thus has the advantage that the points of the serrated bridge are capable of creating a defined transverse slit centrally, for example, in the broad side of the bag. Because of the curved design of the bag opening device the bag initially lies on the corresponding points of the serrated bridge above the supporting edge of the bagged goods receptacle, so that advantageously a greater surface pressure is created with a gap between the edge of the bagged goods receptacle and the bag for easier manipulation of the bag during the emptying process.
Advantageous developments and improvements of the bag opening device specified in claim 1 are presented in the sub-claims.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the serrated bridge has a several, for example four, points disposed successively in the longitudinal direction. This provides a larger, defined opening slit in the bag for emptying leading to an improved emptying process. The quantity and design of the individual points can be chosen depending on the respective bag material, size and/or desired opening slit and constructed accordingly.
According to a further development the points on the serrated bridge, disposed centrally in the longitudinal direction, are preferably arranged slightly higher on the serrated bridge than the adjacent outer points. Through the increased surface pressure on the bag material from the central points effected by means of the bag's own weight including the bagged goods the easy and rapid piercing of the bag material by the central points is guaranteed. During continued lowering of the bag the other points also finally pierce the bag material, possibly by means of a slight sideways movement of the bag.
According to a further development, the points each have cutting edges at both inclined side edges, i.e. on two sides, which are constructed by means of bevels oriented in the same direction or in the opposing direction. Where there are cutting edges on two sides, an enlarged cut in the longitudinal direction of the bag opening device is guaranteed. Alternating bevels of the adjacent cutting edges can possibly improve the cutting process for severing the bag material. However, it is also conceivable that the cutting bevels are only provided on the points on one side thereof, as viewed in the longitudinal direction. Also any chosen arrangement of the bevels is conceivable.
According to a further development the bag opening device has an overall height adapted to the thickness of the bag to be opened or the serrated bridge has a bridge height and/or point height which is adapted to the thickness of the bag to be opened, such that the points opening the bag do not pierce the rear of the bag to be opened. Consequently the design of the bag opening device and/or the curved construction of the serrated bridge are adjusted to the particular bag to be opened, such that the points do not pierce the rear face of the bag to be opened, so reducing the risk of injury to the user.
According to a further development the fixing device has two opposing fixing portions, a fixing portion being provided at each free end of the serrated bridge. By means of two such mutually diametrically opposed fixing portions a particularly stable attachment to the associated bagged goods receptacle can be guaranteed. For a specialist it is apparent that other such developments are also conceivable.
According to a further development, each fixing portion has one or more engaging portions to provide stable engagement with the edge of the associated bagged goods receptacle. For example, each fixing portion has two or three engaging portions which can be brought into stable engagement with it at different edge regions of the associated bagged goods receptacle. By this means the bag opening device can be prevented from slipping during the opening process and a stable and safe emptying of the bag thus guaranteed.
According to a further development the bag opening device is formed from a sheet metal material with a predetermined sheet thickness, for example a sheet thickness of about 3 mm. This facilitates the manufacturing process and reduces the manufacturing costs.
According to a further development the bag opening device is provided mirror-symmetrically with respect to a longitudinally oriented central plane or with respect to a transversely oriented central plane. This can also contribute to reducing the manufacturing costs on account of a simplified forming tool.
The invention is explained in more detail below by reference to embodiments referring to the attached figure.
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a bag opening device for opening a bag containing bagged goods according to a preferred development of the present invention.
As shown in Figure 1, the bag opening device 1 preferably has two opposing fixing portions 10, 20. Each fixing portion 10, 20 according to the present embodiment has three engaging portions 11, 12, 13 or 21, 22, 23. Only two, or more than three, engaging portions can also be envisaged without detracting from the present inventive concept.
As also shown in Figure 1, each fixing portion 10, 20 is provided approximately T-shaped according to the present embodiment, wherein the two lateral webs 11, 13 or 21, 23 are slightly curved in construction, so that they can be brought into a stable engagement with the associated edge of the bagged goods receptacle. In addition, each fixing portion 10, 20 has a central web 12 or 22 which can also be brought to engage with the edge of the bagged goods receptacle. Consequently the three engaging portions 11, 12, 13 of the fixing portion 10 or the engaging portions 21, 22, 23 of the fixing portion 20 are constructed adapted to the edge curvature of the bagged goods receptacle such that a stable, for example, non-positive and/or interlocking, engagement with the edge of the bagged goods receptacle is guaranteed.
Viewed from outside, the fixing portions 10, 20 are for example formed with a slightly concave curve, in order to be adapted to the curvature of the edge of the bagged goods receptacle. Preferably the individual engaging portions 11, 12, 13 or 21, 22, 23 are constructed and aligned such that a clamping of the respective fixing portions 10, 20 in the associated edge region of the bagged goods receptacle is guaranteed by simple means.
Furthermore each engaging portion 11, 12, 13 or 21, 22, 23 is preferably formed as an engaging hook, as shown in Figure 1, in order to guarantee the easy mounting of the engaging portions on the edge of the bagged goods receptacle.
In addition, the two fixing portions 10, 20 according to the present embodiment are interconnected via a serrated bridge 30. The serrated bridge 30 has several, for example four, points 31, 32, 33, 34 which are preferably provided behind one another in the longitudinal direction of the bag opening device 1.
The serrated bridge 30 is preferably constructed as a bridge which has a curve towards the upper face. Furthermore preferably four points 31, 32, 33, 34 are arranged on the upper face of the serrated bridge 30, wherein the two central points 32, 33 have a height which is oriented slightly further upwards than the two adjacent lateral points 31, 34. By this means it is guaranteed that during its initial placement on the serrated bridge 30 the bag is subjected to increased surface pressure from the two central points 32, 33 and the bag material can be pierced more easily.
At this juncture, it should be pointed out that the quantity as well as arrangement and design of the individual points can naturally be varied and adjusted depending on the overall dimensions of the bag opening device and those of the bag to be opened.
As schematically shown in Figure 1, each point preferably has two cutting edges at the laterally inclined point edges. For the sake of clarity, in Figure 1 purely as an example, the two cutting edges of point 32 are marked by the reference numerals 35, 36. Consequently, each point according to the present development has on both sides, in other words disposed on two sides, cutting edges in the form of corresponding bevels. For example, all the bevels of all points seen in the longitudinal direction can be oriented towards the same side. However, it is also conceivable that the orientation of the individual bevels of the cutting edges of the individual points is provided alternately or in accordance with a predetermined pattern .
It is also conceivable that the points at each point edge, viewed in the longitudinal direction respectively, have a correspondingly envisaged bevel on both sides. To a specialist it is evident in this case that cutting edges of any conceivable form can be provided at the points, being arranged either all uniformly, in an alternating pattern or in any other arrangement.
The height of the bag opening device 1 or the entire serrated bridge 30 is preferably designed such that the topmost points 32, 33 do not pierce the rear face of the bag when the bag is lying on the edge of the bagged goods receptacle, in order to minimise the risk of injuring the user. For a specialist it is clear that the bag opening device 1 can also be designed for different bagged goods receptacles as well as different bag dimensions .
Preferably the bag opening device 1 is constructed of a predetemined sheet metal material of predetermined sheet thickness. For example, a sheet thickness of about 3 mm can be selected. It is also conceivable for the bag opening device 1 to be assembled from several individual parts, for example three individual parts, in order to simplify the process of manufacturing and reduce the costs.
The bag opening device 1 can also for example be designed to be mirror-symmetrical or axially symmetrical with reference to a transversely aligned central plane, as illustrated by way of example in Figure 1. However, other types of symmetry are also conceivable and are included in the present scope of the patent.
Although the present invention has been described above by reference to preferred embodiments, it is not limited to them, but may be modified in diverse ways.
