Abstract

An apparatus for cutting open the hind quarters of fur- bearing animals, especially mink, and comprising holding elements 18, displaceable in relation to one another, in which the rear paws of the fur-bearing animal can be clamped for stretching the hind quarters by moving the holding elements 18 away from one another, and a displaceable cutter, 44, which is designed to make a cut in the pelt along the rear of the hind legs from one paw across the hind quarters below the anus of the animal to the other paw, is provided with a first skinning element 46, which is designed to be introduced between the pelt and the ventral side of the animal carcass through the stretched, opened hind quarters, a second cutter element 50, which is designed to cut the anus and any testicles free of the pelt, a further cutter element 54 with holding element 56, which are designed for cutting open the pelt on the tail of the animal, and a second skinning element 64, which is designed to release the opened pelt from the hind legs. This provides an apparatus, which is innovative in that it can also detach the pelt at the hind part of the ventral side, can cut free the anus and any testicles from the pelt, can cut open the pelt on the tail and can detach the pelt from both hind legs. <IMAGE>
