Claims (17)

1. Fremgangsmåde til fremstilling af en vandig suspension af naturligt calciumcarbonat kendetegnet ved at den omfatter følgende trin: a) tør og/eller våd formaling af calciumcarbonat indtil en gennemsnitsdiameter fra 0,5 til 500 mikrometer (dso) i nærvær eller fravær af dispergeringsmidler, b) dannelse af en vandig suspension af produktet fra trin a) ved tilsætning af den påkrævede mængde vand til opnåelse af et tørstofindhold af calciumcarbonat på mellem 10% og 80%, fortrinsvis mellem 30% og 50% og mere fortrinsvis mellem 35% og 45%, c) formaling af suspensionen fra trin b) i nærvær afen homopolymer og/eller copolymer af (meth)acrylsyre, der samtidigt har en molvægt på mellem 8000 g/mol og 15000 g/mol, fortrinsvis mellem 10000 g/mol og 14000 g/mol, mere fortrinsvis 12000 g/mol, og et molindhold af polymerkæder med en molvægt på under 3000 g/mol på mindre end 20%, fortrinsvis 15%, mere fortrinsvis 10%, d) eventuel koncentrering af den vandige suspension opnået i trin c) ved hjælp af en hvilken som helst kendt metode til opnåelsae af et calciumcarbonatindhold på mindst 5% over koncentrationen fra trin b) eller c), fortrinsvis mellem 60 og 80 vægtprocent, og mere fortrinsvis mellem 65 og 75 vægtprocent, e) eventuel tilsætning af et dispergeringsmiddel til den vandige suspension under eller efter trin d).
2. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, kendetegnet ved at homopolymeren og/eller copolymeren af (meth)acrylsyre er opnået med radikalpolymerisering i emulsion eller i opløsning, efterfulgt af mindst ét trin med statisk eller dynamisk separation, hvor separationstrinnet anvender ét eller flere polære opløsningsmidler, fortrinsvis valgt fra gruppen bestående afvand, methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanolerne, acetone, tetrahydrofuran eller blandinger deraf.
3. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, kendetegnet ved, at homopolymeren og/eller copolymeren af (meth)acrylicsyre opnås ved kontrolleret radikalpolymerisering, fortrinsvis ved polymerisering med reversibel additions-fragmentationskædeoverførsel (RAFT).
4. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 3, kendetegnet ved at polymeriseringen med reversibel additions-fragmentationskædeoverførsel (RAFT) anvender mindst ét kædeoverførselsmiddel, såsom ifølge WO 02/070571, WO 2004/014967 og WO 2005/095466.
5. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 4, kendetegnet ved at homopolymeren og/eller copolymeren af (meth)acrylsyre er fuldstændigt sur, eller er totalt eller delvist neutraliseret med et neutraliseringsmiddel valgt blandt natrium-og kaliumhydroxider, calcium- og magnesiumhydroxider og/eller oxider, ammoniak, eller blandinger deraf, fortrinsvis af et neutraliseringsmiddel valgt blandt natriumhydroxid, kaliumhydroxid, ammoniak, eller blandinger deraf, mere fortrinsvis af et neutraliseringsmiddel som er natriumhydroxid.
6. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 5, kendetegnet ved at, copolymeren af (meth)acrylsyre ud over (meth)acrylsyre omfatter en anden monomer valgt blandt (meth)acrylsyreanhydrid, (meth)acrylamid, (meth)acrylestere og fortrinsvis blandt methyl-, ethyl-, isopropyl-, n-propyl-, isobutyl-, n-butyl-, tert-butyl-, 2-ethylhexylacrylater, methyl-, ethylmethacrylater, hydroxylerede methacrylater, styren, alpha-methylstyren, styrensulfonat, eller acrylamido-2-methyl-2-propanesulfonsyre, phosphaterne af ethylenglycolacrylat og -methacrylat, og blandinger deraf, og ved at den anden monomer fortrinsvis er acrylamid.
7. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 6, kendetegnet ved at homopolymeren og/eller copolymeren af (meth)acrylsyre anvendes i en mængde fra 0,1 til 1,0%, fortrinsvis fra 0,2 til 0,6 tørstofvægtprocent, baseret på tørstofvægten af calciumcarbonat.
8. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 7, kendetegnet ved at, der ud over homopolymeren og/eller copolymeren af (meth)acrylsyre, anvendes en anden homopolymer og/eller copolymer af (meth)acrylsyre under eller efter koncentrationstrinnet d).
9. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 8, kendetegnet ved at tørstofvægtkoncentrationen af calciumcarbonat i den vandige suspension opnået efter formalingstrinnet c) er mellem 10% og 80% af den samlede vægt af suspensionen, fortrinsvis mellem 30% og 50%, mere fortrinsvis mellem 35% og 45%.
10. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 9, kendetegnet ved at tørstofvægtkoncentrationen af calciumcarbonat i den vandige suspension opnået efter det fakultative koncentrationstrin trin d) er mindst 5% over koncentrationen af produktet fra trin b) eller c), fortrinsvis mellem 60% og 80%, mere fortrinsvis mellem 65% og 75% af den samlede vægt af suspensionen.
11. Fremgangsmåde ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 10, kendetegnet ved at den endvidere omfatter et trin f) til tørring ved en hvilken som helst kendt metode af produktet opnået i trin c) eller d) eller e) til fremstilling af et tørt calciumcarbonat.
12. Tørt calciumcarbonat kendetegnet ved at det er opnået ved fremgangsmåden i krav 11.
13. Vandig suspension af calciumcarbonat kendetegnet ved at den indeholder en homopolymer og/eller copolymer af (meth)acrylsyre anvendt i fremgangsmåden ifølge et hvilket som helst af kravene 1 til 11.
14. Anvendelse af den vandige suspension af calciumcarbonat ifølge krav 13 i papirapplikationer såsom tilførelse af fyldstof eller coating.
15. Coatingformulering indeholdende den vandige suspension af calciumcarbonat ifølge krav 13.
16. Fyldstofsammensætning indeholdende den vandige suspension af calciumcarbonat ifølge krav 13.
17. Anvendelse af den vandige suspension af calciumcarbonat ifølge krav 13 i malings-, plastik- og tætningsmiddelsindustrien.
