Abstract

A fibre preform 10, for laying ifl a mould for forming a wind turbine blade, comprises a stack of fibre plies 12 stitched together by spaced apart rows of stitches 14 that extend in what is to be the span-wise direction of the wind turbine blade. The distance between adjacent rows of stitches is selected to provide a predetermined maximum fibre ply crease height when the fibre preform 10 is laid in a mould for forming a wind turbine blade.
