Description
Apparatus for roasting sulfidic ores It is known, sulfidic ores To roast ores according to the so-called fluidized bed process in such a way that the relatively fine-grained ore is given up to a reaction chamber in which it passes through Oxygen-containing gases rising from below are swirled through. The largely fluidized bed consisting of completely roasted burn-off is used in the known Process always built above a gas-permeable support floor. Although it in other fluidized bed processes, especially in coal gasification according to Wink 1 e r and in performing catalytic reactions, is known, vortex chambers To use that expand upwards, this measure is more sulfidic when roasting Ores have not yet been used. The use of upward to extended Reaction chambers in coal gasification are mainly intended for the purpose of to ensure sufficient swirling of the slag that sinks into the lowest layers to ensure. This is the only intention with the well-known Winkler generators very imperfectly had been achieved so that it was necessary to the lowest layers of the fluidized bed, in which the slag collects without being swirled, through a mechanical stirrer to move. A similar suggestion is also for the cracking one Distillation of oil shale in the fluidized bed became known, and also the lowermost zones of one in a conical reactor with unspecified Aperture angle located fluidized bed must be stirred mechanically. Since the The intention of the Winkler generators was to use expanded vortex spaces and Oil shale smoldering systems have not yet been reached to a sufficient extent and slag formation anyway during the roasting of sulphidic ores not to the extent that was to be expected with coal gasification, and none there either If there are smoldering residues, this measure is even better when roasting sulfidic ores not tried first. Rather, efforts have been made to ensure sufficient turbulence even the lowest layers can be achieved by adjusting the gas velocity from the start has chosen so high that it is sufficient for the turbulence of even the coarsest parts. In doing so, however, the grain size of the feed material had to be fairly uniform Pay attention, because otherwise too much fine material would have been blown out by the gas flow.
It has now been found that this known mode of operation is also the further disadvantages brings that one by the excessively high gas velocity gets into the area of highly inhomogeneous fluidized beds, in which a large part of the gas in the form of larger bubbles breaks through the fluidized bed practically unused. There is therefore an insufficient use of the roasting air, combined with an undesirable effect high oxygen content and correspondingly low SO content of the roasting gases, in purchase gain weight.
The present invention describes a device which makes it possible also sulfidic ores with a wide grain size distribution based on the fluidized bed principle to be roasted in such a way that the roasting air is practically completely used, whereby one Roasting gas with a high S 02 and a negligibly low oxygen content is preserved and also can achieve a largely roasted burn of great uniformity.
The inventive device is based essentially on one Further development of the concept of use, which is known for other fluidized bed processes from above to extended reaction spaces and its adaptation to the special Problems with the roasting of sulphide ores. According to the invention it is provided that the opening angle of the extended reaction space not to be chosen arbitrarily or at random, but deliberately according to certain regularities from the grain size distribution of the solid content to calculate the fluidized bed.
For this purpose, the solids content of the fluidized bed is imagined broken down into a number of fractions of relatively uniform grain size. There the fluidized bed consists for the most part of burnup and the proportion there is little raw material in it is for the measures outlined below the grain size structure of the burn-up and not that of the input material is decisive.
It is then necessary for each fraction to ensure uniform swirling and optimal heat transfer, the most favorable gas velocity is determined. The determination this gas velocity is known per se and is not part of it alone of the present invention. You can use this gas speed z. B. after known Calculate formulas. But you can also do a simple experiment in the Establish laboratory experimentally.
The optimal gas velocity for the coarsest fraction becomes then the lowest cross-section of the vortex chamber is calculated. First of all, mentally a cylindrical shaft is calculated for this coarsest fraction, the height of which is from the volume share of this fraction in the total grain structure.
In the same way, the cross-section and height of a cylindrical shaft calculated for the optimal turbulence and optimal Heat transfer of the next smaller grain class is required. Likewise, there will be more cylindrical shafts calculated for each grain fraction. One gets in this way a discontinuous, d. H. built in steps, expanding upwards Reactor. The shape of the vortex chamber is approximately determined thereby a continuously running body of revolution laid through it by the individual Steps should be beveled to avoid congestion. The number and width the fraction cut is chosen so that a good approximation through a continuous running body of revolution is possible. It is useful to calculate the shape of the reactor repeated with a larger number of narrower grain size cuts until one further refinement of the grain size sections no significant change in the reactor shape brings more. One will of course try in general, this body of revolution as simple as possible. In the case of many sulfidic ores, surprisingly shown that a good approximation even by a rectilinear frustoconical Course can be achieved.
Of course, if necessary, it must also be expected that the opening angle of the vortex chamber changes with height, for example in the form of a Calyx.
If the reactor shape according to the teaching according to the invention is based on the grain size structure the solids content matched to the fluidized bed, then one achieves the advantage of that you can work with gas velocities very close to those for fluidized beds permissible upper limit of the gas velocities, above which the bed is blown out of the reactor. With the usual shaft-shaped vortex roasting ovens on the other hand, one could not work close to this limit because it was already insignificant Fluctuations in the gas velocity and / or the grain size composition one had a great influence on the formation of the fluidized bed and there was a risk of the bed to blow out of the reactor. Another advantage of the invention is that also smaller fluctuations in the grain size structure automatically due to the reactor shape be balanced because the suspension is in the reaction space that widens towards the top always a zone finds in which the gas velocity is low enough is to limit the surface. It is therefore not necessary to have the reactor shape to change as long as the fluctuations in the grain size composition of the solid the usual range of variation of any ore of a certain origin and certain Do not exceed the size of the shredding type.
In practice, ovens calculated according to the invention have above all proven themselves when roasting gravel that does not crack, e.g. B. Meggener gravel, but also for lead-containing zinc blends that tend to agglomerate are tried and tested.
Der Eintrittsquerschnitt i betrug 0,25 m2. The device according to the invention is explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment. Embodiment A commercially available gravel with the following grain size distribution 23% below 0.5 mm, 35% below i, o mm, 58% below 2.0 mm, 80% below 5.0 mm resulted in a burn of the following particle size distribution: q.50 / 0 under 0.5 mm, 550/0 under i, o mm, 70% under 2.0 mm, 96% under 5.0 mm. It was roasted in a shaft that widened towards the top as shown in the illustration. The furnace had a height of 3.0 m and the inlet cross-section i was 0.25 m2. In the case of 2 the cross section was 0.5 m2, and in the case of 3 the cross section was 2 m2. The shape of the furnace was determined in the manner described in such a way that for each grain size fraction - in the present example, for the sake of clarity, fewer sections are given than the actual calculation was based on - the optimal gas velocity for the turbulence and heat transfer was determined and one for each cylindrical part with a diameter corresponding to this gas velocity for the intended throughput.
The height of each cylinder resulted from the quotient of the cylinder volume to be made available for this fraction to the cross section determined by the gas velocity. The border of the bed was at 4 below the cross-section 3. The entry took place at 5 by a screw conveyor, and the discharge took place at 6 and 7. Above the widening part, this is followed by a short shaft 8 of constant cross-section, which into a Gas outlet 9 opens. The roasting air was blown into the reaction space from a wind box io through a nozzle plate ii with an excess pressure of 850 mm water column. If the furnace is to produce concentrated roasting gases, internal cooling 12 is expediently installed, which preferably consists of upright tube bundles running parallel to the wall. The gravel had a sulfur content of 38% and was used in the amount of 0.5 t / hour. entered at 5. The average temperature in the fluidized bed was 85o ° C. 1,000 cubic meters of roasting gas per hour with 12.5 volume percent S 02 left the furnace, the amount of dust being 30 g / cubic meters and a maximum grain size of 150 w.
