Dazu ist vorgesehen, daß die gangseitige Kante des 0 Zulaufbandes von der gangseitigen Kante des erkerartigen Vorbaus einen Abstand von 150 bis 250 mm, bevorzugt 200 mm, hat. Der vorstehend beschriebene Kassenarbeitsplatz kann nach einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Erfindung auch noch dahingehend abgewandelt werden, daß in Förderrichtung des Laufbandes, dem Kassentisch nachgeordnet, ein Nachlaufband angeordnet ist. Dieses Nachlaufband dient zu einem problemlosen Weiterführen der bereits über den Scanner geführten Waren. Das Nachlaufband selbst kann dabei auch noch schräg nach unten verlaufend in den Warenspeicher ausgeführt sein. Das die Forderrichtung vorgebende Zulaufband 1 und der Scanner 2 sind dabei exakt in Forderrichtung angeordnet. Die Förderrichtung ist durch den Pfeil mit dem Bezugszeichen 4 gekennzeichnet. Vor dem Lesefeld 5 ist noch ein Sicherheitsbereich 20 vorgesehen. Erfindungswesentlich ist nun die Anordnung der Eingabetastatur 6. Die Eingabetastatur 6 ist erfindungsgemäß so angeordnet, daß sie, zumindest teilweise, gangseitig über die Breite des Zulaufbandes 1 hinausragt. Erfindungswesentlich ist nun, daß die Eingabetastatur 6 durch einen erkerartigen Vorbau 9 umschlossen ist. Dieser erkerartige Vorbau 9 ist im Ausführungsbeispiel nach Figur 1 so ausgelegt, daß er gleichzeitig ein zwischen dem Warenspeicher 10 und der Arbeitsplatte 3 angeordnetes Nachlaufband 11 mit umfaßt. Die Oberfläche des erkerartigen Vorbaus 9 (schraffierte Fläche) ist dabei aus einem transparenten Material. Das transparente Material gewährleistet nun, daß der Bediener durch das transparente Material in den unteren Bereich eines Einkaufswagens, der an dem Kassenbereich vorbeigeführt wird, einsehen kann. Die transparente Oberfläche des erkerartigen Vorbaus 9 kann dabei aus allen an und für sich aus dem Stand der Technik bekannten transparenten Werkstoffen gefertigt sein. Zur besseren Warenkontrolle verfügt die Ausführungsform nach Figur 1 über ein Kundendisplay 14 und zur Kontrolle der Waren für das Bedienpersonal über sogenannte PLU-Listen 13. Die Anordnung von Fig. 8 (Marktseite A, Ausgangsseite B) hat den Vorteil, daß die äußeren Kassen einen großen Stauraum und einen geraden Zulauf aufweisen.
