Description
The invention refers to a method for amplifying high-frequency vibrations, at which made a control of the electrons with regard to their speed and in the case of a field-free room adjoining the control room a Grouping of the electrons takes place. According to the invention, electrons with different, speed controlled by a high-frequency input voltage into an im essential electrically field-free space, the length of which is so great compared to that traveled by the fastest electrons during a period of high frequency Distance is that the electrons push one another in groups. With the help of a Pick-up electrode, which is at a point of greatest electron compression or thinning is arranged, increased vibrations are removed ..
It is already known to control the speed of electrons to undertake. A pure speed control is achieved in such a way that the emission current of a hot cathode and the bias voltage of a Hot cathode arranged control electrode so. sets that electron saturation in the control room prevails. With such a speed control, however, no great ones could be made Tax steepnesses are obtained as no means was known to the Velocity fluctuations - of the electrons arriving at the output electrode to convert into voltage fluctuations.
It is also known to have a combined speed and space charge control to be carried out by first passing the electron flow through two downstream of the cathode, grid lying on positive potential is accelerated and then before the third, Serving as a control electrode grid, the negative compared to the previous electrode is biased, creates a space charge of varying density. The ones from the space loading grids Exiting electrons enter the space charge cloud at a variable speed one or through the same.
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a novel speed control performed. The electrons of different speeds emerging from the control electrode are directed into a field-free rauara, in which a grouping of electrons takes place in such a way that the slow electrons are overtaken by the faster ones. Further details of the invention are discussed with reference to the figures.

The function of the tube is based on the fact that the speed of an electron beam corresponding to the amplitude of a received wave of, for example constant frequency is modulated. The one from the electrons to the receiving plate The distance covered is great compared to the distance covered by the fastest Electrons is traveled during a period of high frequency. The faster ones Electrons will therefore reach this plate much faster than the slower ones. " that with suitable dimensioning of the tube and correct choice of the speed of the Electrons are a grouping of electrons along their anode voltage Path will take place, which are compared with the formation of standing waves could. There will be certain compression points and nodes, the closer the electron beam moves to the collecting plate, the clearer it is. As a result, the electrons are in the form of individual groups and no longer in Impinge in the form of a steady stream.
A voltage is applied to the collecting plate, so that by a Output impedance, a current of the same frequency as the input signal, however much larger amplitude, flows.
Fig. I shows schematically a tube i, which at the ends 2 and 4 through Glass or other insulating material is completed and their length is large compared to the diameter is. A beam generating system 5, 6 is arranged at the end 2 of the tube. It consists of a cathode 5 and an accelerating electrode 6, the opening of which is large compared to the diameter of an electron, so that a large number of electrons can pass through. A diameter of e.g. B. 3 mm proved to be appropriate. The electrodes of the beam generation system are provided with feedthroughs 7 and 9.
At the other end 4 of the tube is the collecting plate io. One-distance from 20 cm to the beam generating system has proven to be suitable. The catching plate is led out by means of a wire i i. Inside the tube is also a concentric electrostatic screen 12 is provided which extends from the beam generation system extends up to the collecting plate and with the acceleration, el.electrode @ 6 -conductive is connected so that the entire space between the B. acceleration electrode 6 and the plate io is at the same electrical potential.
A magnetic collection coil 14 surrounds the tube between the beam generation system and the catch plate. The current in the coil is chosen so that the electrons be compressed into a tight bundle 15.
From Fig. 2 it can be seen how the collecting coil 14 surrounds the tube i and how within this the shielding. i2 is arranged. The accelerating electrode 6 of the beam generation system can be seen here in the view.
Fig. 3 also shows the coil 14 and the screen i2 and also the collecting plate zö, which is arranged symmetrically to the tube shell.
The cathode is heated by a heating element 16 which, by means of supply lines 8 and 17, is connected to a direct current source; z. B. a battery i9 is connected, with the interposition of high-frequency chokes 2o, 21, which are bridged by a capacitor 22. A positive bias voltage of approximately 15 volts, which is taken from a voltage source 24, is applied to the acceleration electrode.
A receiving arrangement 25 which, for. B. consists of an antenna is coupled via its inductance to a tuned circuit 26, which on the one hand with the cathode of the beam generation system and on the other hand via earth with the acceleration electrode is conductively connected, so that the resulting alternating voltage between the Kathode.5 and the acceleration electrode 6 becomes effective.
There have been various methods of high frequency amplification so far used which more or less distortion and the emergence of different and have undesirable frequencies as a concomitant phenomenon. In an amplifier z. B. for television purposes, however, a complete freedom from distortion is required. These is according to of the invention by a special control of the speed of a strong electron current, and the resulting amplification is such, that no further oscillation circuits are required besides the input and output circuit will. The arrangement is free from the distortions and harmonics that occur with the otherwise common amplifiers occur. In addition, the construction amplifier tube simpler and cheaper than normal tubes.
The from the cathode 5 in Fig. Q. The generated electrons are brought to a low speed by the tensile stress on the acceleration electrode 6, so that they move in the direction of the collecting plate io. External stray fields are kept away by the screen 12, which is at the anode potential. The through the collecting coil 1q. The magnetic field generated prevents the electrons from diffusing over time, so that practically all electrons coming from the beam generation system hit the plate. A current of 15 milliamperes was obtained with the indicated construction.
The electrons reach their maximum speed already after they have left the beam generation system because there are no further acceleration fields act on them. So each electron would travel at a constant, unique speed run towards the disk io. The received vibrations now cause voltage fluctuations between the cathode 5 and the high voltage electrode 6 so that the speeds successive electrons will fluctuate according to this control voltage. The path of the beam 15 is great compared to that of the fastest electrons during one period of the high frequency distance traveled. As a result, the fast electrons very soon overtake or catch up with the slower ones flying in front of them. overtake. With a suitable dimensioning of the voltage 2q. and the tube in terms of the receiving frequency occurs a distribution of fast and slow electrons so that a density distribution arises along the beam that compensates for the amplitude fluctuations corresponds to the receiving voltage. The beam formed in this way then hits in the form of Electron groups on the plate io, so that a current of the same frequency and proportionally increased amplitude like the input voltage through the output impedance 29 flows. Of course, the cathode can be used by any other to generate Load carriers suitable arrangement are replaced. Also the beam generation system can of course be changed within wide limits. The use of a collective field is appropriate. However, it can also be replaced by other equivalent means.
