Die Erfindung betrifft eine Stumpfschweißverbindung, bei: der die zu verschweißenden Teile in kleinem Abstand voneinander angeordnet sind und die so entstandene Schweißlücke durch ein Abdeckstück abgedeckt ist, das mit einem Steg in die Lücke hineinragt und das eine Aussparung aufweist, deren Breite größer als die Breite der Lücke ist, so daß die Rohrenden über einen Teil der Aussparung ragen.
