Weiterhin zeigt sich häufig der als Trapezfehler bekannte Nachteil, der darin besteht, daß bei der Ablenkung des Strahls, bei der ein Quadrat auf dem Leuchtschirm erscheinen müßte, dieses zu einem Trapez verzerrt wird (vgl. Abb. i). Dieser Fehler beruht darauf; daß die Axialgeschwindigkeit der Elektronen beim Durchsetzen eines Ablenkplattenfeldes geändert wird und dadurch die Empfindlichkeit des leuchtschirmnahen Plattenpaares je nach der Ablenkung des Elektronenstrahls durch das kathodennahe Plattenpaar verschieden ist.In Braunsehen tubes are usually used to deflect the electron beam two mutually perpendicular pairs of deflector plates arranged. In dieser Abbildung bedeuten PK das kathodennahe Ablenkplattenpaar und Py das Plattenpaar in der Nähe des Leuchtschirmes. Durch diese Maßnahme läßt sich das Ablenkfeld wenigstens für einen Punkt, z. B. O i, so korrigieren, daß dort die Ablenkung genau rechtwinklig ist. Diese Verhältnisse sind in der Abb. 3 dargestellt.
