Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf gemischverdichtende, mit Fremdzündung arbeitende Einspritzbrennkraftmaschinen. Bei derartigen Brennkraftmaschinen ist es bekannt, zur Bildung eines zündfähigen Gemisches einen Kraftstoffstrahl durch den Brennraum hindurch in die Nähe der Zündeinrichtung zu spritzen. z. Durch diese Zündherdkammer wird der durch das Aufspritzen zerstäubte und durch die Wärme des Kammermaterials aufbereitete Brennstoff gut in der Nähe der Elektroden zusammengehalten, so daß eine sichere Zündung gewährleistet ist. Mit Rücksicht auf diese Art der Kraftstoffzuführung wird die Zündherdkammermündung in entsprechender Weise gestaltet. Vor allem wird die Achse der Mündungsbohrung vorteilhaft so gelegt, daß sie etwa in Richtung des ankommenden Kraftstoffstrahls und vorteilhaft gegen die Kerzenachse geneigt verläuft.
