Description
The invention relates to a repair patch for pneumatic tires, conveyor belts or the like, which has upper and lower cover layers made of rubber-elastic, vulcanizable materials, between which a multi-layer cord insert is vulcanized.
Nach dieser Vulkanisation wird d±e ReifeninnenwandSuch repair patches are used primarily for repairing large tires for heavy trucks, construction machinery, tractors, etc. Despite the considerable effort involved, the high purchase costs of new tires regularly justify the repairs of even major damage to the side walls and tread. The damaged areas are worked out in a funnel shape from the outside of the tire to the inside of the tire using suitable tools, after which the damage area is filled with different rubber mixtures from the outside and then vulcanized in a suitable hot press. After this vulcanization , the inner wall of the tire is

Stoßkanten der Kordeinlaga auftraten, welche di^ Lebensdauer der reparierten Luftreifen verkürzten bzw. eine Wiederholung der Reparaturarbeiten erforderten.roughened and the repair patch is rolled on after applying a layer of binding agent to the roughened wall area, with the patch being aligned in such a way that the cord insert threads run parallel to the carcass threads, since the cord insert of the patch must take over the function of the at least partially destroyed carcass. After the repair patch has been fixed to the roughened inner wall, it is vulcanized using a suitable hot press or by self-vulcanization. However, during operation of the repaired pneumatic tires, it has been shown that breaks in the patch occurred primarily in the area of the cut or abutting edges of the cord insert, which shortened the service life of the repaired pneumatic tires or required the repair work to be repeated.
The object of the invention is to create a repair patch for pneumatic tires, conveyor belts and other suitable rubber articles with reinforcement, in which the breaks occurring in the area of the abutting edges of the cord inserts are avoided and the service life of the repaired articles is thus extended.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the abutting edges of at least the largest cord layer are each covered by a vulcanized strip made of a material that is tensile at least in the transverse direction of the strip.
Dabei hat die dünne Gummischicht zwischen den FädenThe arrangement of the vulcanized strip according to the invention ensures that the tensile stresses acting on the cord insert are not introduced abruptly, but gradually into the rubber material of the plaster. The thin rubber layer between the threads
Zudem wird durch den mechanischen Widerstand der im Abdeckstreifen enthaltenen Materialien ein Durchbrechen im Bereich dr-r Stoßkanten der Kordeinlagen verhindert. the cord layer and the tensile strip are of key importance because they allow minimal elastic relative movements and thus also a reduction in stress peaks. In addition, the mechanical resistance of the materials contained in the cover strip prevents breakage in the area of the butt edges of the cord inserts.
The strip is essentially a rubberized cord strip, the threads of which run at least approximately parallel to the threads of the covered cord layer. This enables further equalization of the force transmission from the cord insert via the cord threads of the strip into the rubber material of the plaster. The cord threads of the strip, like those of the cord insert, can be made of rayon, polyester, Kevlar, steel or similar materials, whereby preferably similar threads are used for the cord insert and the strip.
A particularly useful embodiment of the invention is characterized in that at least some of the cord layers are covered on their abutting edges in addition to the cover or cord strip on one or both sides by a soft elastic rubber layer, which should be in the form of strips before the vulcanization process , the width of which is greater than or equal to the width of the cord strip. After the vulcanization process, this soft elastic rubber layer has a damping effect, which among other things results in a further balancing effect and gives the repair patch increased structural strength in the front and rear edge areas.

Es zeigen:Further special features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of embodiments shown in the drawing. They show:

ion in Exolosionsdar Stellung, ion in exolosional position,
Fiy. 2 einen Schnitt durch den Endteil eines Reparatur-I Plasters.Fig. 2 shows a section through the end part of a repair plaster.
Wie ausThe repair pilaster shown consists of a lower and an upper covering layer 1, 2, which are flattened towards their edges. On the underside of the lower covering layer 1 V 'there is a thin connecting layer 3, which protrudes over the outer edges of the plaster and is covered by a film that can be removed before use. As shown in Fig. 1, a reinforcement insert comprises a total of four cord layers 4, 5, 6 and 7, which extend over almost the entire length of the plaster, with their respective joints offset from one another in the longitudinal direction of the plaster, as can be seen from Fig. 2. The cord insert is given special strength properties by the fact that the two middle cord layers 5 and 6 are narrower than the two outer cord layers 4 and 7. A rubberized cord strip 8 is arranged above the upper cord insert 7 in the drawing, which covers the butt edge of the cord layer 7 and is wider than this. The cord threads in this strip 8 run parallel to the cord threads in the cord layers 4 to 7. A strip 9 made of a soft elastic rubber is arranged above the cord layer 7 and the cord strip 8, which covers the cord strip in the longitudinal and transverse directions. An identical or similar rubber strip 10 is arranged between the lower cord layer 4 and the lower cover layer 1. As can be seen from
As can be seen from the enlarged sectional view in Fig. 2, after vulcanization the two strips 9 and 10 merge into one another in the front end section. The same applies to the rubber layers in which the individual Kor J layers 4 to 7 are embedded.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment shown, but also includes structural modifications. For example, instead of the four cord layers shown, more or fewer layers can be used. In addition, another cord strip can be provided between or under the front ends of the cord layers in order to improve the balancing effect of the cord strip 8. The matrix materials of the repair patch can be special rubber mixtures for the cover layers and the cord layers as well as PU mixtures. Finally, the middle cord layers 5, 6 can have a greater width than the lower and/or upper cord layers 4, 7.
