Tatsächlich ist jedoch eine solche Achtelkugel ein Kompromis zu Ungunsten der markanten Unterschiede zwischen der Befestigung und vor allem der Beanspruchung von vertikalen und horizontalen Elementen eines Möbelstückes. Alle hier betrachteten Möbelstücke weisen eine obere Deckplatte auf, von der aus vertikale Kräfte über den Eckverbinder auf das Stützbein übertragen werden. Dadurch, daß der Eckverbinder für die Horizontale an zwei Profilleisten bindbar ist, ergibt sich dadurch für den Eckverbinder selbst eine außerordentliche und schon mit verhältnismäßig geringen Mitteln erreichbare Vertikalstabilität. Maßgebend ist nunmehr, daß das Stützbein so an den Eckverbinder montierbar ist, daß es ein entsprechendes Biegemoment, was beispielsweise beim Verschieben eines Tisches mit freistehendem Bein auftreten kann, übernehmen kann. Eine vertikale Anschlagfläche 63 ermöglicht einen Paßsitz zwischen Möbeleckverbinder und Rahmenschenkel.
