Description
The invention relates to a burner for combustion of a mixture of fuel and primary air while taking in secondary air from the environment, with at least one burner tube that encloses a mixture space and has flame-forming mixture outlet openings in the form of slots on its upper side. Fuel here means gaseous and vaporous, but also finely distributed liquid and solid fuels.
It is a problem of our time to reduce the NO content in the exhaust gases of burners, preferably by primary measures, i.e. by measures that already reduce the formation of NO. Other results are achieved by arranging smaller or more rigid inserts next to the flame core, which release heat to the outside by radiation and in this way bring about a reduction in the combustion temperature, which is desirable for the reduction of NO. However, the results achieved still appear to be in need of improvement.

obengenannten Art mit weiter vermindertem NO -Anteil im Abgas zuabove-mentioned type with further reduced NO content in the exhaust gas
To achieve this object, the burner according to the invention is characterized in that an air guide plate is arranged on each side of the burner tube, which limits the access of secondary air into the base area of the flame and which borders on the mixture outlet openings.
According to the invention, the secondary air is no longer allowed to diffuse freely into the flame, but the base area of the flame is shielded against the ingress of secondary air using air guide plates. It was found that this surprisingly simple measure leads to a very significant reduction in NO emissions. The values are significantly lower than those of flame cooling.
In contrast to the inserts for flame cooling, the air guide plates do not have to be heated to glowing temperature in order to fulfill their function. Rather, they only have a shielding effect. The design is unrivalled in its simplicity.
The width of the air guide plate and the angle between the plate and the burner depend on the particular installation situation of the burner. Tests have shown that it is particularly advantageous if the air guide plate is attached vertically to the burner tube.
The lowest NO values are obtained when the air supply to the flame is completely shielded against the ingress of secondary air. The secondary air enters the flame area away from the base of the flame and produces an overall very soft, poorly structured flame.
In order to optimise the emission values for NO and CO, it is

It is therefore advantageous that a small proportion of the secondary air is introduced into the base area of the flame. Therefore, according to the invention, the air guide plate has at least one opening in the lower area for the limited entry of secondary air. As a rule, several openings will be provided. The shape of the opening is not important. Its size can also be different, as long as the intended purpose is guaranteed, namely that only a small proportion of the secondary air is allowed to enter.
It is particularly simple in terms of construction if the opening is formed by a gap between the burner tube and the air guide sheet.
A further advantageous embodiment consists in the burner tube having a web in the area of the mixture outlet openings. The air guide plates are particularly easy to attach to the web.
In a fire, internal combustion engines with associated ventilation guide plates can be arranged next to each other.
Combinations of the claimed features that deviate from the attached version of the claim are also deemed to be disclosed as essential to the invention.
The invention is explained in more detail below using a preferred embodiment of the burner according to the invention in connection with the figure.

Fig. 1 eine perspektivische Ansicht einer ersten Ausführungsform. Fig. 2 eine perspektivische Ansicht einer zweiten AusfUhrungsform.Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a second embodiment.
The burner in Fig. 1 and 2 has a burner tube 1 with slot-shaped mixture outlet openings arranged on the top. The interior of the burner tube forms a mixture chamber into which a mixture of fuel and primary air is introduced. In the case of atmospheric burners, an injector device (not shown) arranged at one end of the burner tube 1 serves this purpose. The cross-section of the burner tube can decrease in the direction of flow. On each side of the burner tube 1 there is an air guide plate which limits the access of secondary air to the base area of the flame and which borders the mixture outlet openings.
In the burner in Fig. 1, the air guide plates are attached at an angle to the burner tube 1.
In order to reduce CO emissions, a small amount of secondary air can be introduced into the base area of the flame. This is done using the openings 4 provided in the lower area of the air guide plates 3. The size of these openings optimizes the emission values for NO and CO.
The burner according to Fig. 2 has a web 5 in the area of the mixture outlet openings 2. The mixture outlet openings 2 in the form of slots extend over the entire width of the web. The air guide plates are attached vertically here.
The burner is particularly suitable for use in space heaters and storage water heaters. A burner can contain any number of additional burner tubes 1 with associated air guide plates 4.
