Durch Rotation der Welle, hervorgerufen durch ein Antriebselement (Elektro, Benzin- Diesel- oder Hydromotor) wird das sich im Luftstrom befindliche Laub von den rotierenden, sichelförmigen Messern (Figur Ib) zerkleinert. Das zerkleinerte Laub wird mittels eines Gebläses (5)> das sich zwischen Antriebselement (8) und Messerwerk (k) befindet, zur Auslaßöffnung (6) im Luftstrom transportiert und ausgeblasen. Hier kann es beispielsweise in Säcke abgefüllt werden.
