Description
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Brennkraftmaschine mit luftgekühltem Auspuffrohr.The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with air-cooled Exhaust pipe.
Bei Brennikraftmaschinen erwärmt sich das Auspuffrohr sehr oft bis zur Rotglut, eine Erscheinung, die zu Unglücksfällen führen kann, wenn die Brennkraftmaschine an Orten in Betrieb steht, an denen die Luft -zündfähige Bestandteile, beispielsweise Kohlenstaub oder Gas enthält. Hingewiesen sei beispielsweise auf,die Explosionsgefahr, die mit der Verwendung einer solchen Brennkraftmaschine in Erdölgebieten verbunden ist, in denen sich bei einem zufälligen Gasausbruch das Gas-Luft-Gemisch an dem glühenden Auspuffrohr entzünden könnte. Besonders groß ist die Explosionsgefahr bei luftgekühlten Brennkraftmaschinen, bei denen das Gas-Luft-Gemisch vom Kühlgehäuse erfaßt, an den Kühlrippen des Motors entlang geführt und hierbei vorgewärmt wird. Diese bei den bekannten Brennkraftmaschinen mit luftgekühltem Auspuffrohr beobachteten und die Verwendungsmöglichkeit dieser Maschinen stark einschränkenden Mängel sind bei der erfindungsgemäßen Brenukraftmasc'hinedadurch behoben, daß das Auspuffrohr insbesondere in Maschinennähe mit Abstand von einem flammensperrenden, luftdurchlässigen Mantel umgeben ist. Die Wirkung dieses Mantels beruht auf der bekannten physikalischen Erscheinung, wonach es einer Flamme nicht möglich ist, einen sie beschneidenden Drahtgazekäfig zu durchdringen. Bei der erfindungsgemäßen Bren.nikraftmaschine kann sich gegebenenfalls wohl das durch den Mantel zum glühenden Auspuffrohr vordringende Gas an dem Rohr entzünden, doch bleibt die Flamme innerhalb des von Rohr und Mantel gebildeten Raumes. Es versteht sich im Sinne der Erfindung von selbst, daß der Schutz entlang .der Auspuffleitung so weit ausgedehnt werden muB, wie die Erwärmung des Auspuffrohres dies wünschenswert erscheinen läßt.
