Man hat diese I.soherschalen aus dem verschiedensten .Material hergestellt, z. B. aus silicathaltigen Fasern, wie Schlackenwolle, Steinwolle, Glaswolle, oder aus Kork, Kunstschaum usw. Die Befestigung dieser Isolierschalen auf dem zu isolierenden Rohr geschieht so, daß Schalen um das Rohr gelegt und dann mit Draht zusammengebunden werden. Diese Arbeitsweise hat sich in der Praxis als recht umständlich erwiesen. Sie erfordert in den meisten Fällen zwei Arbeitskräfte, denn die Schalen können nur so befestigt werden, daß sie ein Mann um das Rohr legt und sie festhält, während der zweite sie festbindet.
