Process for the preparation of dicyclohexylamine Pei's catalytic
Hydrogenation of aniline is known to produce a mixture of cyclohexylamine and ammonia
and dicvcloliexvlamin. The formation of the dicyclohexylamine can, as also
is known, largely suppressed by the addition of ammonia. Is the amount of ammonia
z. B. seven times the aniline used for hydrogenation, one obtains over
goo / o cyclohexylamine. Conversely, the yield of dicyclohexylamine is increased,
if one removes the ammonia from the equilibrium. The complete removal of the
Ammonia from a closed hydrogenation system is technical and economical
Reasons hardly possible.
It has now been found that dicyclohexy1-amine can be obtained in a simple manner
and in excellent yield by catalytic hydrogenation of aniline in the
Vapor phase is obtained in a cycle process by using the reaction chamber
leaving vapors each cools to such temperatures that essentially only
the dicyclohexylamine and, at most, small amounts of cyclohexylamine are liquefied,
and the remainder after removing some of the ammonia and adding more
Passes aniline and hydrogen back through the reaction chamber.
Man arbeitet z.
etwa i i % Cyclohexylamin und etwas Cyclohexanol besteht.
One works z. B. so that one aniline at ordinary or moderate
elevated pressure at 25o ° evaporated in a stream of hydrogen and the mixture at
16o ° passes through a reaction chamber that contains a nickel catalyst. the
vapors leaving the reaction chamber are now
z. B. to 45 °
chilled; a mixture condenses which consists of about 88 # / o dicyclohexylamine,
about i% cyclohexylamine and some cyclohexanol. Not at 45 °
condensed fractions one branches off a part, z. B. '/ lo, as exhaust gas; to avoid
This waste gas is expediently passed through to prevent losses of valuable compounds
a cooler and recirculates the cyclohexylamine that has been separated out
to, by z. B. added to the aniline to be evaporated. The bulk of the
45 ° non-condensed gaseous components are fed directly into the aniline evaporator
and from there, supplementing the consumed hydrogen and taking up
Aniline vapor, fed back into the reaction chamber. But you can also proceed in this way
that the reaction gases freed from dicyclohexylamine by cooling to 45 ° in
their entirety initially cools to ordinary or a lower temperature and
only then branches off and discharges some of the non-condensed gases, whereupon
the bulk of the gases is replenished with fresh hydrogen, while the entire,
Residual condensate consisting essentially of cyclohexylamine from the aniline evaporator
feeds.
It is surprising that the process is so easy to achieve high
Yields of dicyclohexylamine gives, although considerable amounts of ammonia in the circuit
are carried along, of which only a small percentage with the branched off
Gases is removed.
und etwa i % Cyclohexanol besteht. That on the. described way easily accessible dicyclohexylamine
is known to be a valuable intermediate product, especially for plastics and plasticizers
and textile auxiliaries. Example One vaporizes in a pump moving
Circulating gas stream of 4251 hydrogen per hour 15 g aniline per hour and sends the
Gas mixture through a contact furnace with seven parts one on pumice stone with
Water glass applied nickel catalyst is filled. The one leaving the oven
The gas stream is cooled to 45 °, a product condensing which leads to 880/0
consists of dicyclohexylamine. For the separation of part of the split off ammonia
every hour 5o 1 of the mixture that remained gaseous at 45 ° is passed through a with
Water diverted from cooler cooled by 20 °. The condensate formed in the cooler is
fed back to the aniline evaporator via a siphon; in the cycle gas arises
finally an ammonia concentration of 4%. One gets out this way
3309 aniline 300g of a crude product consisting of 88% dicyclohexylamine, i i% cyclohexylamine
and consists of about 1% cyclohexanol.
If the gas stream leaving the furnace is only cooled to 70 ° instead of 45 °, 310 g of an hourly crude product consisting of 95% dicyclohexylamine, 4% cyclohexylamine and 1% aniline and cyclohexanol are obtained from 345 g of aniline.
