Die Wirkung der meisten bisher gebräuchlichen Gasreinigungsmassen beruht auf dem mehr oder weniger grofsen Gehalt an Eisenoxyd. Vorzugsweise kommt hierbei das Rasenerz in Anwendung.The effect of most of the previously used gas cleaning compounds is based on the more or less great content of iron oxide. Durch die vorliegende neue Gasreinigungsmasse wird nun ein erheblich besseres Resultat erzielt als durch die bekannten Mittel. Gerade durch dieses Zinkoxyd wird die in dem Leuchtgase enthaltene Kohlensäure vollkommen entfernt. Die Beseitigung der übrigen Unreinigkeiten beruht zum grofsen Theil auf der Einwirkung des Zinkes, welches stets in dem als Abfallproduct aus den Verzinkereien stammenden Eisenchlorür enthalten ist. Eine Druckverminderung ist infolge dessen ausgeschlossen, und die Masse kann bequem und leicht aus dem Reinigungskasten entfernt werden, da sie nicht erhärtet. Eine Auflockerung durch künstliche Mittel, wie z. B. Sägespäne, welche die Wirkung der Reinigungsmasse erheblich beeinträchtigen, ist also nicht erforderlich. Hierzu kommt noch, dafs die zu der neuen Masse1 verwendeten Abfall- bezw. Nebenproducte bisher einer Ausnutzung nicht fähig waren und sehr, viel Raum in Anspruch nahmen, bis sie schliefslich unter grofsem Kostenaufwand weggeschafft werden mufsten.
