Description
Method for generating artificial fog It is known that one artificial mist by atomization or atomization or evaporation of acids, Generate acid halides, halides of metalloids, etc. together with ammonia can. The ammonia is used either in the form of ammonia water or in the form of liquefied ammonia. When using ammonia water one obtains Fog, the density of which is impaired by the excess water. The mists, those obtained with gaseous ammonia are therefore in many cases less Opacity, because the dry ammonia is able to form double compounds (e.g. with SiC14 the compound SiC14 - 6 NH3 or their rearrangement products), their fog effect is weaker than that of the otherwise simple, almost colloidal appearing End products (in the above example SiO2 or its hydrates and chlorammon). One another known difficulty in the use of ammonia water and liquid Ammonia results from the fact that one is proportionate to the transport of both products extensive and heavy containers required: for ammonia: i-ater large containers, in which one also always carries large amounts of water as unnecessary ballast, for liquid ammonia pressure-resistant steel cylinders or tanks, their weight in proportion to their capacity is extraordinarily high.
It has now been found that this overcomes the disadvantages can that one uses ammonia in the form of ammonia water, which is more saturated is than it can be saturated under normal temperature and pressure conditions, So instead of one, for example, under atmospheric pressure at 20 @ outside temperature, for example 2o; the above-mentioned ammonia water, for example, an ammonia water of Ga 11:,. One can such an ammonia water at ordinary temperature only under pressure or at produce, store and transport normal pressure only under refrigeration; the However, the necessary pressure is so low that the necessary transport vessels at sufficient wall thickness and choice of suitable vessel material are only slightly heavier than the containers for ordinary ammonia water. Also, the pressure of the highly concentrated Ammoma water may be used at the same time for: -spraying the ammonia water while the 2 # ammonia water, which is saturated under atmospheric pressure, is used for atomization or splash under all circumstances must put particularly under pressure.
To deal with the intrinsic pressure of the Amtrtoniak water even at low temperatures to effect its atomization, one must increase its concentration accordingly, as is well known, the vapor pressure of an ammonia water of any concentration with decreasing temperature also decreases very rapidly. Such an increase in the concentration of ammonia however, it can easily lead to an excess of ammonia because of the very strong Effect of ammonia on the mucous membranes of the eyes and the respiratory organs can be undesirable. Also, it can have a significant change in volume the aqueous ammonia solution require the atomizer vessels of different sizes and Requires different power nozzles per unit of time.
These difficulties can be avoided by adjusting the concentration and the amount of ammonia water in relation to the second mist component, depending on the temperature prevailing during the nebulization, especially when it is cold, so that there is always a neutral mist of mammal density arises. Imagine that, for example, silicon tetra-chloride may react with ammonia and water according to the well-known equation SiCl -.4 \ H3 -: -4 H20 = Si (0 H), -.1N H, CI (i) and that SiCl may react with ammonia alone according to the also known equation Sicli - @ 6 NH, = Si (\ H)., - d NH, Cl (2), then a neutral fog must always arise if the sum of the fog components used is just to fulfill both equations sufficient.
Indeed it is. If you choose the ammonia concentration depending on the temperature so that the steam tension is sufficient for atomization, and from this concentration calculates the reacting according to equation (i) or (2) percentage of ammonia, from this one finds for a given amount of SiC1, the required amount of ammonia by weight using a simple stoichiometric calculation, with the required water to form a solution of the initially selected percentage is brought.
Beispiele i. Examples i. Ammonia water, which contains about 50 °, o N H3, is pressurized by means of pressurized gas or by rewarming and the atomizing nozzle supplied, «-o it is then with the second mist component, for example SiClt, united to form fog.
The ammonia water with about 50 "o NH can be prepared, for example, by pouring about 25" o ammonia water into a pressure vessel and cooling it to about o. Then ammonia gas is introduced until it is saturated.
