Process for fixing pigments and dyes on a base
It has been found that polyvinyl alcohol or its water-soluble derivatives and

Origin, also paper, wood, artificial leather, oilcloth or cellophane, preparations,
the polyvinyl alcohol or its water-soluble derivatives and aldehydes and besides
colored or uncolored pigments or dyes, organic or inorganic
Natural and optionally contain catalysts, and heated to higher temperatures
or if it dries in the air, firmly adhering, washable pigment colorations are obtained.
As aldehydes and aldehyde-releasing compounds are in particular formaldehyde,

as well as hexamethylenetetramine, methylolformamide and methylolacetamide into consideration. as
Catalysts are inorganic or organic acids such as hydrochloric acid, formic acid,
Lactic acid, maleic acid or oxalic acid, also acidic compounds and
acid-releasing compounds, for example tartaric acid esters or copolymers
from maleic anhydride and vinyl compounds such as vinyl methyl ether or vinyl acetate.
The catalysts should not give any precipitations with solutions of polyvinyl alcohol.
You can also use polyvinyl alcohol, pigments and, if appropriate, catalysts by themselves
Apply to the surface and post-treat with aldehyde vapor.
Schiefermehl, Metallpulver, Titandioxyd, Ultramarin, Farblacke organischer Farbstoffe,
Colored or uncolored compounds such as carbon black,

Spraying or painting done. You can also use aids to the preparations
of various kinds, z. B. distributing and equalizing agents,
which keep the color bodies in a fine distribution and thus have a deepening effect,
for example condensation compounds from naphthalene stilfonizates and formaldehyde,
also thickening, softening and anti-foaming agents, such as tragacanth,
Gum, cellulose derivatives, triisobutyl phosphate or tetramethylpropylene glycol.
Printing pastes of the type described can be mixed in color when printing
Mltister can also be used in addition to other printing pastes commonly used in stuff printing, e.g.
B. in addition to those, the vat dyes or sulfur dyes or their leuco compounds
contain, or mixtures of naphthols and diazotized amines or such compounds,
which are only converted into dyes on the fiber by oxyzvdation, or
Such compounds can also exert a caustic or reserved effect.
Due to the usual drying process after printing, the polyvinyl alcohol
The printing pastes containing the printing pastes were firmly fixed, and those for the other printing pastes were applied
necessary further treatment can be connected.
