Description

Water-soluble impregnating agent for wood. Salts of chromic acid, arsenic acid and hydrofluoric acid, together with other substances, are effective in themselves Impregnating agent known. In the originally clear solutions of these impregnating agents However, a sludge easily forms on the wood to be impregnated deposits, which prevents through-impregnation, especially in the so-called juice displacement process and makes the wood coming out of the impregnation bath appear unsightly. Annoying is also the settling of this sludge in the working vessels, especially valves and pipes, apart from the fact that the formation of the sludge results in a loss of substance means.

B. nur 0,02 g.It has now been found that impregnating solutions which contain alkali fluorides and / or arsenic acid or their alkali: salts and optionally alkali chromates remain clear and do not excrete sludge if they contain alkali meta- or pyrophosphate. These phosphates can be added to the impregnating materials before they are dissolved or even only to the solution that has already been prepared. Suitable impregnating liquids are obtained, for example, if the known impregnating agents containing fluoride, arsenate, bichromate and dinitro-phenol are added to 5 to 5 parts of sodium pyrophosphate or sodium metaphosphate to 100 parts and the mixture is taken up in water to form a 5% to 5% solution . Further amounts of pyro- or metaphosphate, about z to tog per liter, can be added to the solution prepared in this way. If one compares these impregnating solutions with equally strong solutions which are produced without the above-mentioned phosphorus compounds, it turns out that under conditions under which the latter solutions have already deposited 3 9 voluminous sludge per liter, the former solutions = none or only a very small one Amount of sludge formed, e.g. B. only 0.02 g.

According to a known method, wood preservatives should be made Fluorides and arsenic compounds, which have the disadvantage. Metal parts of the working devices and also to form insoluble compounds in order to avoid them Disadvantages of certain substances, - i.a. salts of phosphoric acids are also added, where am; monium phosphate or N, atrium ammonium phosphate were named. However, through comparative experiments it was found that these phosphates were the initially Not only do not prevent the mentioned sludge formation, but actually increase it.

The effect of the alkali metal to be applied according to the present process or pyrophosphates could not be derived from the known property of these phosphates, in kessehvasser or other service water the formation of precipitates, which on the presence of hardness builders can be attributed to prevent; .because the formation of sludge in impregnating agents of the present type and the prevention of sludge formation due to meta- or pyrophosphates occurs even if water does not contain any hardeners was used to produce the funds.
