Abstract
Description
This invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing air supply to a production line or similar processing space which is separated from the environment and into which an access opening arranged above the floor level leads from the environment, the processing space being separated from the environment by blowing treated supply air into the processing space so that an air curtain preventing the entry of ambient air is formed in the area of the open access opening of the processing space.
Special requirements are placed on the temperature, purity or other properties of the air in the food industry, the electronics industry, etc. In the food industry, for example, a product should be treated below 100 degrees Celsius to guarantee its preservation and for hygiene reasons in general. This requires extremely high cooling capacities and causes health risks for workers.
In the electronics industry, stages of work requiring high cleanliness are carried out in processing rooms, called laminar flow cabinets, which are separated from the rest of the factory space. The worker stands outside the cabinet and the workpiece is in the cabinet, which is open at the front and into which air filtered to a very high degree of cleanliness is usually introduced through its ceiling. The work can thus be carried out under extremely clean conditions without raising the air in the entire factory space to such a high level. purity level. In the small cabinet, the air exchange rate can be maintained at a very high level, usually several hundred times per hour, at a reasonable cost, and so the flow conditions can be easily controlled if air purity is the only requirement.
German laid-open specification 2 030 565 discloses a system for controlling the purity of the air in laminar flow cabinets, which are widely used in clean room techniques. The laminar flow cabinet has two zones, one with a vertical air flow and the other with a horizontal air flow. One aims to keep the flow laminar, so that even a small temperature difference between the cabinet and the ambient air completely destroys the flow field.
Laminar cabinets therefore only work properly if the temperature of the supply air and that of the cabinet are the same as the temperature surrounding the cabinet. If the temperature of the supply air and that of the ambient air differ from each other, convection currents occur due to the difference in air density and completely change the flow in and around the cabinet.
The flow in the laminar air cabinet changes significantly even if the supply air is only 2º-3º Celsius colder than the ambient air. The supply air, which is then heavier than the ambient air, "falls" to the bottom of the cabinet and flows from there over the open front edge and falls further to the floor level, where it causes so-called floor draught. At the same time, warmer room air flows into the cabinet at the upper edge of the access opening, which is less carefully filtered, and mixes with of the supply air and deteriorates its purity. If the temperature of the cabinet is higher than that of the environment, the flow direction is opposite, that is, into the cabinet from below and out of the cabinet from above. Laminar cabinets are unsuitable for air with a temperature significantly above or below the ambient air temperature.
It is also previously known to separate the processing space from the environment by providing an air curtain in the access opening. German laid-open publication 2 245 265 suggests that the air jet providing the air curtain should be divided between two nozzles that can be aligned. However, due to suction, the jets immediately merge, after which the two jets are no longer of any use. Instead of two separately expected small suction flow turbulences, a large turbulence is created on both sides of the jet. Due to the temperature differences, the air tends to flow outwards from the upper section of the door and inwards from its lower section, so that the system actually increases the influence of the convection currents instead of reducing it.
The German patent application 2 359 218 also refers to air curtain injection. In this arrangement too, the injection increases the convection flow. The air in the jet mixes with the outside air and is therefore colder than the room air and so it may not rise upwards under the influence of a simple temperature drop (recess). The cold air flows along the floor into the entire room and the warm room air flows out along the ceiling. The The jet blowing technique described enhances the convection flow of warm air. To be able to control the system, the bottom grid should be heated or a strong blow should be directed upwards from its inner edge to enable the formation of the desired flow field.
European patent application 0 139 128 describes a laminar cabinet which, however, does not have two zones, but an air curtain in which the air is blown downwards or sideways parallel to the laminar flow. The basic idea is that instead of the air circulating in the cabinet and possibly containing poisonous gases, the ambient air, which does not contain such gases, is used for the air jet. In this way, the escape of gases is prevented. The purpose of the laminar flow in the cabinet in this case, as in laminar cabinets in general, is to keep the particles of the ambient air away from the cabinet. Therefore, no circulating flow is created and attempts are made to prevent its creation.
Finnish patent specification 80 778 describes a flow field created in a free space by an air jet technique. In an attempt to prevent circulating flows, the air is blown in at an angle of 90º from nozzles arranged in two rows. No attempt is made to influence the convective flows. The aim is a flat, downward-directed "air bed" in which mixing with the ambient air is insignificant.
Depending on the temperature and flow rate conditions, an air stream falls which is blown downwards if the Air in the stream is significantly colder than the air contained in the large room. If it is significantly warmer, the flow stays at the ceiling level, turns 90º upon reaching the wall of the room, and continues along the ceiling in the direction of the room. If the temperature of the air stream is substantially equal to the air contained in the room, the flow is split into two branches, turns 90º in the horizontal plane even before reaching the wall of the room, and turns 90º in the vertical plane. The end result is that the air flow runs downwards at the corners of the air supply devices. The air distribution device has no noticeable effect on the thermal flows in the large room.
German laid-open specifications 2 305 101 and 2 359 218 describe methods for creating air curtains in large access openings, as well as door openings at floor level in large production rooms and other similar rooms, in order to prevent the escape of warm room air. In these methods, the air is blown out of the room and the blowing and circulation flow are parallel to the convection flows.
Daher wird Versorgungsluft eher abgesaugt als in den Raum eingeblasen.DE-B-1 120 104 discloses the separation of a processing room from the environment by an air curtain formed between an injection duct and a suction duct. The air curtain charges some of the air into the processing room, thereby driving a recirculation flow into the room, but it also draws air out of the room and reduces the pressure in it. Therefore, supply air is sucked out rather than blown into the room.
The object of the present invention is to provide a method that avoids the above-mentioned disadvantages and enables a processing space to be effectively separated by an air curtain, even if the temperature difference between the supply air and the environment is greater than 100 and even more. This object is achieved by a method according to claim 1 and a device according to claim 5.
The method according to the invention enables the cooled and heated areas to be separated from a large production room, a room or other such space in accordance with the requirements of the production process. Since the entire production room does not have to be cooled or heated to a temperature required for a specific processing operation, the requirement for cooling or heating energy is reduced and the investment required for the generation of the energy is significantly reduced. If required, the air in the cooled or heated area can also be kept extremely clean without filtering the entire air flow for air conditioning the production room. In addition, air impurities that may be generated in the production room are not able to penetrate into the production line. Product hygiene can thus be significantly improved at low cost. The system also eliminates the health risk of the workers and the working conditions are significantly improved, which significantly improves the productivity of the work.
The basic idea of the invention is simple. Production rooms that are colder or warmer than normal are effectively separated as much as possible from the rest of the production room by light-structure walls or curtains, which is known as such from the state of the art. However, it is necessary for the work that at least one of the walls is left open, or at least provided with large openings through which the colder or warmer air than the environment would escape, like a convection current from the cabinet, if nothing else were done.
Convection currents and leakages of cold/warm air caused by such currents are prevented by creating a circulation current in the separated processing space, the direction of which is against the convection current and the flow speed is greater than that of the convection currents. The flow is created by shaping the separated space so that a circulation current is able to develop effectively and by blowing the supply air into the space through a narrow continuous nozzle with the same width as the opening or wall or through small nozzles or openings arranged close together in one or more rows so that a circulation current is created.
The invention also relates to the device according to claim 5 for applying the method described above.
Im folgenden wird die Erfindung detaillierter mit Bezug auf die beigefügten Zeichnungen beschrieben, in denenIn the following, the invention is described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which

Fig.1 stellt eine bekannte Luftzufuhranordnung dar. A processing room 1 is surrounded by a cabinet 2 with an access opening 3 on one side. The cooled supply air A is blown in through nozzles 4 arranged on the ceiling of the cabinet to form an air curtain 5 in the area of the opening. A desired flow of the supply air at the opening of the processing room is shown by arrows A'' drawn by dashed lines. However, warmer ambient air flows into the cabinet at the upper edge of the opening as a convection flow B and mixes with the supply air, the flow of which is shown by arrows A' drawn by solid lines. This air flows along the bottom of the cabinet and over the open front edge and further down to the floor level. The known arrangements have usually a perforated top plate or a filter cell or some other similar plane air distribution device through which air flows at a low velocity to obtain a laminar flow. The task is to obtain a plane, slow flow over the entire cross-section of the opening. The air flow velocity is low, e.g. 0.05 to 0.04 m/s.
In the arrangement shown in Fig.2, a supply duct 6 is provided adjacent a lower edge 2a of the opening 3 of the cabinet. The duct 6 is provided with nozzles 7 aligned parallel to a floor 2b of the cabinet. Cooled supply air A is blown into the processing space through the nozzles at a high velocity. A supply air flow A' runs from below over a rear wall 2c of the cabinet up to a ceiling 2d and along this to a front wall 2e and further downwards across the opening of the cabinet as a natural flow (cold air flows downwards). The initial flow velocity of the supply air is so high that the above-described circulating flow remains in the cabinet and no warmer room air enters the cabinet, unlike in Fig.1, like a convection flow B at the upper edge of the opening. This requires that the flow rate of the circulation flow is still higher than the flow rate of the convection flow of the room air at the upper edge 2f of the opening. The flow A', which would otherwise tend to escape from the cabinet, is forced by the nozzles 6 to turn back into the cabinet. The circulation flow takes place at the upper edge of the opening 3 in a direction opposite to or strongly deviating from the direction of the convection currents.
The height of the cabinet and the opening should not be much greater than the width, otherwise two superimposed circulation flows are easily created, of which the upper flow is open, so that warm air can flow into the cabinet at the upper edge of the opening, while cold air flows out in the middle. This can be prevented by a duct 8 arranged at the upper edge of the opening and having nozzles 9 through which air is blown downwards, as shown in Fig.3. In this way it is possible to control even relatively high openings. In this particular case, the air blown through the nozzles 9 is circulation air C, which is sucked into a duct 10 provided at the rear 2c of the cabinet and returned to the circulation flow A' through the duct 8, so that the supply air flow to be cooled would not increase beyond the limit.
A relatively reliable way of preventing the division of the circulation flow A' into two is to arrange a duct 11 at the top of the cabinet, as shown in Fig.4, and to introduce supply air through small nozzles 12 arranged in several rows. This creates a double turbulence A', A'' in the cabinet, as shown in Fig.4, in which air flows downwards on both sides and upwards in the middle. The circulation flow can be guaranteed by inlet air parallel to the bottom of the cabinet, while circulation air C is taken through the duct 10. None of the latter functions is required in all cases. This way of Air supply such as that shown in Fig.5 is especially suitable for use when both side walls of the cabinet or production line are open. The nozzles 6 blow against each other from opposite sides of the cabinet or production line and the duct 10 is located in the middle of the cabinet or production line.
Diese Anordnung ist insbesondere geeignet für die Verwendung in großen Bearbeitungsräumen, da die Strahlen aufgrund des sogenannten Coanda-Phänomens stark auf der Oberfläche des Schrankes für eine lange Zeit verbleiben,Fig.5 shows an embodiment in which supply air is blown through the channel 11 provided at the upper end of the cabinet in two directions through the nozzles 12 arranged in several rows. This arrangement is particularly suitable for use in large processing rooms, since the jets remain strongly on the surface of the cabinet for a long time due to the so-called Coanda phenomenon.
Fig. 3A is an enlarged view of an alternative structure for the air supply arrangement shown in Fig. 2. In Fig. 3A, the same reference numbers are used as in Fig. 2.
Fig.3B is an enlarged view of an alternative structure for the additional air circulation arrangement shown in Fig.2. In Fig.3B, the same reference numbers are used as in Fig.2.
In order to promote the circulation flow A', A'', guide plates 29 to 2m can be provided for guiding the flow in the processing chamber 1. The guide plates 29 to 2m can be arranged close to the walls of the processing chamber. They can also be formed by sections of the walls or the channels.
The drawings and the description related thereto are intended only to illustrate the idea of the invention. In their details, the method and the device according to the invention can vary within the scope of the claims. The cabinet of the production room can have plates or other devices for accelerating or directing the circulating flow of supply air and directing or preventing the convection flow of supply air at places where the convection flow tends to penetrate the circulating flow. It is also possible to provide nozzle injection at various points of the cabinet; in Fig.3, for example, the channel 8 can be arranged at the upper end of the cabinet so that the nozzles 9 blow in along the front wall 2e. In the embodiment of Fig.2, a further channel with nozzles blowing in upwards along the wall 2c can be provided in the lower section of the rear wall 2c. In the embodiment of Fig.4, the duct 8 shown in Fig.3 may be added, or a duct with nozzles blowing upwards may be provided centrally under the duct 11, etc. Although the invention has been described above in connection with a stationary processing room such as a laboratory cabinet, it may also be applied to a processing room located, for example, in a desired area on a continuous production line. In such a case, the opening(s) of the room to be closed by an air curtain may be the access opening(s). The supply air may be kept colder, warmer, cleaner or in a different state from the ambient air and may be blown in like a circulating flow according to the invention.
