Die Erfindung betrifft «inen dem Pressen von Zigarren, Zigarillos u.dgl. ohne Anwendung eines diese umfassenden Bandes dienenden Preßkasten mit unmittelbarer Einbringung der Zigarren u. dgl. in die Viersandkiste. Der Preßkasten für Zigarren, Zigarillos u. dgl. besteht aus den Stirnwänden 1 und 2, mit denen der herunterklappbare Boden 3 durch Gelenke 4 und 5 verbunden ist. Damit bei der Benutzung des Preßkastens die Zigarren o. dgl. nach, dem Herunterklappen des Bodens 3 zunächst noch in der eingenommenen Lage verbleiben,, ist gemäß der Erfindung 'dicht über dem Boden 3 eine um eine in der Längsrichtung des Preßkastens sich erstreckende Achse 26 schwenkbare, zur Anpassung ah die Länge der Versandkiste entweder auswechselbare oder aus mehreren der Länge nach ausziehbaren Teilen bestehende, mit Handhabe 24 versehene dünnwandige Lenkplatte 25 angebracht. Diese Lenkplatte 25 -wird in waagerechter Lage (Abb. 3 und 6) von einer lösbaren Verriegelung 27 festgehalten und kann erst nach Auslösen der Verriegelung 27 mittels der Handhabe 24 (Pfeilrichtung in. Abb. 3) aus der waagerechten Lage in,, die Schräglage (Abb. 7) und schließlich, in eine etwa senkrechte Lage (Abb. 8) geschwenkt werden. Die Wirkungsweise ist hierbei die, daß die auf der Lenkplatte ruhenden Zigarren o^ dgl. mittels dieser in die Versandkiste K hineingeleftet werden und nach Erreichung: der 'etwa senkrechten Lage der Lenkplatte25 von dieser freigegeben werden, und die Versandkiste K ausfüllen.
