Description

As is well known, artificial silk experiences; e.g. viscose silk, by treatment with a soap bath that concludes the manufacturing process, the To increase the effect, oils can also be added to improve their effect Properties. The silk thread becomes smoother and therefore easier to process; the silk is also given a good appearance and a soft feel. Is similar the effect of such baths in other fiber material that z. B. when dyeing or has lost its look and feel in similar processes.

It has now been found that the monoesters of polyhydric alcohols with higher fatty acids are particularly suitable as finishing agents. Even small amounts achieve such an excellent effect as is not even close to being achieved by the means known up to now. For example, by adding 0.7 % of glycerol moniolauric acid ester to the last soap bath of the manufacturing process, viscose silk has an extremely beautiful appearance and a particularly good, soft handle.

- So gibt z. The new means are obtained in a simple manner by heating the free fatty acid with the alcohol in question, optionally using a Vacuum. They are very easy to disperse and some of them can already be used without them Emulsify with the aid of an emulsifying agent. - So there are B. the monolauric acid ester of dioxyethane or glycerine with water resistant emulsions. The esters of high molecular weight Fatty acids such as B. the monostearic acid ester of dioxybutane are advantageous Emulsified with glue, soap, aromatic sulfonic acids, Turkish red oil and the like. The monoesters of polyhydric alcohols are suitable for the present purpose; how z. B. of dioxyethane, dioxybutane, dioxypentane, glycerine, erythritol, arabitol, Mannitol and its halogen derivatives and the like, with those saturated or unsaturated unsubstituted or substituted fatty acids, the alkali salts of which are soap-like to have. The products can be used either on their own or in a mixture with other finishing, Solvents, emulsifiers and wetting agents can be used.
