Abstract
The invention relates to a device for protection against overvoltages due to the impact of thunder, said device being connected to an electrical installation, comprising at least two electrodes (2,3) defining a space between the electrodes (4) forming a gap protector, in addition to detection means (8) which are sensitive to the state of the gap protector, enabling detection of the malfunctioning of said gap protector, and disconnection means (8) which can ensure, dependent upon the detection means, the insulation of the protection device (1) in relation to the electrical installation if an error is detected in the gap protector by said detection means. The invention is characterized in that the disconnection means (9) are formed by insulating means (10) which can be positioned between the electrodes (2,3) in order to increase the insulation therebetween dependent upon the detection means (8).
