For degassing metal vapor apparatus or other vacuum apparatus with several electrodes that do not enclose one another, it is generally common practice to use the electrodes bake out one after the other with high-frequency alternating current inductively. This method is not useful because the one exposed from an electrode by the heating Gases were absorbed to a considerable extent by the other cold electrodes will. This phenomenon is particularly important for glass rectifiers, because the graphite electrodes used in these vessels can absorb very large quantities of gases if they are degassed beforehand became. It is also due to this fact that the degassing of these rectifiers has so far been so difficult made.
In order to remedy this drawback, it has already been proposed to use the anodes of Rectifier vessels, e.g. B. by an increased load current, at the same time heat. In these known facilities, however, no precautions have been taken that the electrodes are heated evenly, which is of particular importance.
Gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung werden die Mängel der früheren Verfahren in einfacher Weise dadurch beseitigt, daß die Elektroden gleichzeitig mittels Hochfrequenzinduktionsheizung durch in an sich bekannterAccording to the present invention, the shortcomings of the prior methods become easier Way eliminated by the fact that the electrodes simultaneously by means of high frequency induction heating by in itself known
Separate coils comprising the individual electrodes are baked out are, the heating effect of the invention is adapted to the electrodes so that the different Electrodes reach the same temperature in the same time. The new procedure has the particular advantage that all electrodes to be degassed up to the permissible Limit can be heated without the risk of harmful overstressing a part of the discharge vessel arises.
While the anodes in metal vapor rectifiers with a glass vessel are mostly off Made of graphite, the cathode is made of metal. The metal of the cathode current feedthrough but becomes much less warm in operation than the material of the anodes, and there too the metal tends to be fused with the glass of the vessel wall, it generally is It is not advisable to also bake out the cathode current inlet with high-frequency induction. One therefore restricts oneself expediently on the simultaneous bake-out of those electrodes that are identical in operation are claimed.
If there are several groups of different anodes, it is advantageous to use the Bake out the same induction coils in each of these groups and to connect all coils of the individual groups in series or in parallel. Through this it is achieved in a simple way that equal

Since it is also desirable is to pickle the electrodes of all different groups at the same time, so are expediently given to the bake-out coils of the various groups by appropriate structure, dimensions and number of turns of the coils such inductive resistances and arranges them in such a position to the electrodes that when one behind the other or parallel connection of the individual groups with the electrodes in the same reach the same temperature for a short time, but still below that for a long time
1 S heating attainable final temperature can be. But you can also choose the dimensions of the coils so that the electrodes only get about the same temperature after prolonged heating.
If repeated heating and cooling are allowed to alternate with one another in a manner known per se, more gas is given off by the electrodes than with long-lasting, uniform heating. It is therefore advantageous to cool the electrodes again after the high temperature has been reached by interrupting the induction current or by removing the induction coils. Such a change in heating and cooling can be carried out in a simple manner by periodically switching devices known per se. If the heating is interrupted by interrupting the K coils, these can be used to bake out other devices while they are cooling down.
It is expedient to hold the electrodes during the heating process, as is known per se is, also the vessel walls at high temperature, either by a metal vapor discharge «or by heating the vessel from the outside.
The Fig. Ι shows an example of an arrangement for performing the degassing process according to the invention. The glass- rectifier 5 is connected through pipe 6 to a pumping system. The anodes i, 2 (located in front) and 3, which do not enclose each other, should pass through the induction coils at the same time 7, 8 and 9 are baked out, likewise the auxiliary anodes 10 and 11 by the Coils 12 and 13. The bakeout of the metal 14 of the cathode 4 by means of induction heating is generally not required, because the mercury 4 that covers this metal during operation causes the metal to become hot prevented.
The coils 7, 8 and 9 will expediently be dimensioned so that they can be connected in parallel while giving the coils 12 and 13 such dimensions gives that they can be connected in series parallel to the first coils, as shown in the circuit diagram of FIG.
