Verfahren zur Erzielung einer künstlichen Narbung auf der Oberfläche
von Kautschukkunstleder Bekanntlich besteht Leder aus gegerbter Haut, deren Oberfläche,
die sogenannte Narbe, dichter und zusammenhängender als. die darunterliegende Lederhaut
ist. Bei einem Stück Leder ist es die Narbe, die das schöne Aussehen der Oberfläche
bedingt. In gewissen Fällen preßt man in Leder, besonders in Lederspalte, eine künstliche
Narbe ein, um dadurch zu erreichen, das billigeres Leder das Aussehen eines teueren
erhält. Eine eingepreßte Narbe kann aber nie die Narbung des natürlichen Leders
ersetzen, da die eingepreßte Narbe nur als eine rein äußere Formgebung der Oberfläche
bezeichnet werden kann, während eine natürliche Narbe mehr oder weniger tief im

einwirken läßt. Solche Vulkanisiermittel sind z. B. Chlorschwefel oder Pentametlh'ylen,
dithiocarbarninsaures Piperidin. Durch diese Behandlung wird die Außenfläche des
Kautschukkunstleders ' fester und steifer als die darunterliegende Masse, so daß
man dadurch das sonst nur beim Leder bekannte Narbenbild erhält. Nach erfolgter
kalter Oberflächenvulkanisierung. wird die Kautschukmischung der gewöhnlichen Warmvülkanisierung
mit dem Ergebnis unterworfen, daß seine Oberfläche ihre Glätte und Dichtheit bewahrt,
indem alle Faserteilchen in der' äußersten Schicht selbst in ähnlicher Weise wie

Außer mit der nachgeahmten Naturnarbe kann das Kunstleder in bekannter Weise mit
einem künstlichen Narben durch Pressen versehen werden. Benutzt man als Ausgangsstoff
ein Gemisch von Kautschuk und tierischen oder Pflanzenfasern, versieht solches Leder
mit einer künstlichen Narbe und preßt man ihm außerdem noch eine Narbe auf, so erhält
