Der Werth derjenigen Kette, welche den Gegenstand des Patentes No. 52044 bildet,
liegt darin, dafs ihre Glieder lose oder offen in einander hängen und bei Herstellung eines
anderen Musters leicht und schnell ausgewechselt werden können. Dieser löse Zusammenhang
hat aber auch den Uebelstand im Gefolge, dafs die Glieder beim Zusammenstellen
einer neuen Kette, beim Transport und Einhängen derselben in die Maschine leicht
aus einander fallen. Zur Vermeidung dieses Uebelstandes wird im vorliegenden Fall zwischen
die einzelnen Stege a, Fig. 3 und 7, der Glieder je ein elastischer Winkel b aus Stahlblech oder
Stahldraht gespannt, welcher jeden Steg in die Haken des-Nachbargliedes drückt und somit den
Zusammenhang der Glieder wahrt. Am Fufs umfafst jeder Winkel b einen Steg α auf etwa
den halben Umfang von 1 bis 2 mit abwechselnd einem Lappen m oder zwei solchen n, Fig. 4
und 5, derart, dafs, wie Fig. 7 und 8 zeigen, ein Winkel mit zwei Füfsen η und ein nächster
mit einem Mittelfufs m an demselben Stab a liegen und damit einer den anderen gegen seitliche

Diese Spannwinkel b vertreten aber auch zugleich die Stelle der Auskröpfung oder Erhöhungen,
welche nach dem Patent No. 52044 die Stäbe durch Ausbiegung derselben erhalten oder welche nach der älteren Art auf die
Glieder besonders aufgeschraubt wurden. Es ist dazu nur nöthig, den Winkeln b verschiedene
Höhen zu geben (b O1); sie wirken dann
auf einen auf- oder anliegenden Hebel eh, Fig. ι, in derselben Weise wie die bisher verwendeten
aufgeschraubten. Knöpfe oder angebogenen Erhöhungen; man kann auch wie früher mehrere Reihen solcher Spannwinkel
neben einander in die Kette einklemmen, wenn von letzterer verschiedene Regulirungen
vorzunehmen sind. Mit den Füfsen m η halten sich die Winkel b so fest an den Stäben a,
dafs sie geringe Lasten heben und tragen können; damit sie aber von gröfseren Lasten
nicht durch die Glieder hindurchgedrückt werden , so verwendet man an Stelle offener
Kettenscheiben, wie in Patent No. 52044, eine Kettentrommel c d, Fig. 3 und 6, auf deren
Umfang c die Winkel aufstehen. Die Form der letzteren kann verschieden gewählt werden,
die dreieckige wird die einfachste sein; sie können, wie früher, den anliegenden Hebel h
direct heben, wenn bei der Drehung der Trommel c durch Schaltrad und Klinke 0, Fig. 1,
die Kette fortgezogen wird, oder es kann auch, wie in Patent No. 52044, der Hebel h gf erst
durch ein besonderes Excenter in seine höchste Lage gehoben werden, worauf die Kette unter
ihm leer sich fortdreht und er dann bis auf das unter ihm stehende Glied mit Erhöhung ^1,
Fig. i, sich senkt, in welcher Lage er nun die verlangte Regulirung vornimmt, also z. B. in
