Description
Flow meter The flow meter known in the art with a bluff body can be divided into two main groups. With those of the one The group is the movable damming body (float plate, etc.) with constant load a variable measuring cross-section free, while in the second case the bluff body (Reservoir edge, nozzle, etc.) is loaded by an elastic counterforce, the size of which is indicated by means of an appropriate device (e.g. differential manometer). The development of these two embodiments goes hand in hand with the demands of the modern Following measuring technique, in addition to increased measuring accuracy, an enlargement of the measuring range to achieve, whereby one has as a special goal the detection of the smallest so-called creeping Strives for quantities. At the same time, however, larger pressure differences should also be included Consideration of the associated losses can be avoided. Especially in practice but has proven that the measurement of smaller quantities is unreliable in both systems is, so whenever either the measuring cross section or the dynamic pressure or the flow rate is small. That can be explained, because with measuring instruments In the first group, the measurement cross-section is not only very small, but it takes especially unfavorable shapes (annular gap), i.e. other geometric relationships, in addition, the quotient of the measuring cross-section to the line cross-section is a undergoes permanent change. However, both moments influence how nozzle tests work properly prove the nozzle coefficient in a way that provides exact, generally applicable information makes impossible for the conditions mentioned. Even with the one given in the second position The measuring principle, which requires a constant storage opening, is the nozzle numbers unreliable at low speeds. Just compare those in the literature cited experimental results, and it can be seen that a measurement is smallest Quantities according to this principle alone also offer extremely great difficulties.
The object of the present invention is to be, taking into account of the above points of view to create a measuring device that allows, too capture small amounts. For this purpose, the measuring principles of the two groups mentioned are combined in such a way that the measurement of the larger amounts takes place with a variable measuring cross-section and a constantly loaded bluff body, while the measurement of small quantities from a certain smallest cross-section with variable Counterforce and constant throttle cross-section is made. The invention exists that is, in the combination of two measuring principles known per se, whereby the useful one Measuring range is increased without increasing the allowable pressure difference - -Is the smallest cross-section with -decreasing quantity, the nozzle number of which is still is reliable is achieved, the further measurement of smaller quantities takes place in itself changing pressure gradient and constant storage opening.
.The following briefly describes the mode of operation of the arrangement highlighted which are to be discussed as explanatory examples. .
In the exemplary embodiments given, the measuring range is enlarged by first using the pressure change d p - o to d p - d p "at a certain maximum pressure difference d p." X at the throttle point, with a constant throttle opening for measuring small quantities , while the measurement of larger quantities is made possible by now holding d pmax = const and changing the throttle cross-section.
In the housing a (Fig. I) the bell b is movably arranged, which dips into an annular space c filled with a barrier fluid. At d , b has a throttle opening into which the adjustable mandrel e protrudes. e has a stop at li, against which d rests in the neutral position of b and closes tightly with -N. The piece x of e is cylindrical, while e tapers along the distance y according to a deliberate law. This ensures that the free ring cross-section at d remains unchanged during the deflection x of the bell. The measuring spring f is dimensioned, for example, so that at the moment when the bell has lifted by x, the maximum permissible pressure difference d p, "ax is reached at the throttle point d. The buoyancy of the bell is exerted by the spring f on the movable weight The size of g is dimensioned in such a way that it is approximately equal to that buoyancy of the bell b which it has at the pressure difference d p ... As soon as the bell has lifted by x , it takes the weight. which is supported by a up to this moment, so that the measurement is now continued with a constant pressure difference (d p. "x = const), at the throttle point but with a variable throttle opening d along the path y.
Instead of using the annular gap opening d during the stroke x, it is easily conceivable to use a separate throttle opening dl (Fig. 2) for this stroke and to close the opening d between e and b until the stroke x has ended. In Fig. 2 it is thought, for example, that the mandrel e balanced by the counterweight s is carried along until the end of the stroke x and then held back by a stop i. The entrainment can be done like a drag slide or by a weak spring that presses e against d; In addition, it is possible to force entrainment by a suitable choice of s.
If, for example, a fixed mandrel e is chosen, an embodiment would be. Fig. 3 conceivable. Here the bell b has a cylindrical extension i which is immersed in a mercury vessel k which is attached to a bell l , which in turn has the opening d. Depending on the size of the instrument, k more or less takes the place of the weight g in Fig. i. The spring f supports b against i. i rests at d on e and is only lifted when dp """is reached at opening dl after stroke x has been completed.
A similar device without a bell, but with a float plate b, is shown in Fig. Q .. Here, too, the measurement takes place along the path x with a constant throttle opening d and variable d p, while after the stroke x has been reached, the weight g previously supported by the housing a is now lifted and possibly carried by b using a stop io. It is of course also conceivable that during the stroke x the throttle opening increases gradually at d, in such a way that when the stroke x is reached, d pma is established at d.
In the devices described so far, the throttle openings were. movably arranged. Fig.5 shows a simple embodiment with a fixed nozzle. In the line a, the nozzle d is fixedly arranged. The mandrel e is movable in the pipe axis and protrudes into d. e is moved by means of the linkage m, n, o, p through the piston b , to which the pressure difference occurring at d is transmitted through the channels or pipes r and q. The force of the piston b is absorbed by the spring f until e has covered the stroke x. At this moment the weight g, which previously rested on the housing t, is lifted by b, so that now the load on b remains constant on the path y of the mandrel and the measurement takes place with a variable throttle opening d. The position of b is a measure of the flow rate. The transfer from b to e can of course also take place by another known mechanical, hydraulic or electrical device; Likewise, the piston b can be replaced by a membrane, bell, etc., as shown in Fig. 6. r has a channel at ii which opens at the throttle point, so that the overpressure occurring here propagates through r to the articulation point o, from where it is transmitted to t through a hollow shaft around which r can be pivoted. The overpressure on the front of e could also be transferred in the same way. Here, however, this is done in such a way that the channel q guides the dynamic pressure in a under the cylinder diaphragm b, which transfers its movement through p, m, r to e . The diaphragm b is tightly connected to the piston g, the weight of which is such that it corresponds to the buoyancy of b at dp, ax, which occurs after the end of the stroke x of l . On the path y, the measurement is then carried out at d p tonst and a variable throttle cross-section. Here again g can be replaced by a bell. Instead of the mandrel e, a baffle plate e can also be provided (Fig. 7), which maintains a certain constant throttle opening at d until d p "" is reached. From then on, the piston b lifts by means of a. Linkage o. The like. The baffle plate e steadily from d, so that the measurement from this moment on takes place with a constant pressure difference and a variable opening.
