Description
The swing planes generally require a disproportionately large propulsion power because the kinetic energy of Oscillating mass after each oscillation amplitude by an equally large but opposite one directed energy is destroyed and then the same amount of work to accelerate the mass towards the opposite Direction must be expended.
But it is already known to avoid this acceleration work of the To create oscillating masses so-called oscillatory systems by means of elastic springs Suspension of the vibrating mass parts.
In this way it has become possible to use the first drive impulses Sustaining work as vibrational energy, so that only that amount of work needs to be supplied, which is used to overcome the frictional and damping resistances, i.e. for the flight work must become.
For the purpose of matching the oscillating system to a slowly working drive motor and increasing the period of oscillation, it has been further proposed moving a large part of the mass to the outer edge of the vibrating surface.
In contrast to this proposal, the object is achieved by the invention, in particular in order to safely overcome disturbance factors, to increase the energy of the vibrating system. this happens it is also due to the accumulation of masses on the outer parts of the vibrating surface, " but while maintaining a short period of oscillation and a high frequency simultaneous increase in the elasticity of the surface. Furthermore, according to the invention appropriate measures to reduce the frequency of the oscillating system the phases of the reversal of movement are significantly increased.
In Abb. In Fig. Ι 1 represents an elastic, resilient, on two of. its center points equidistant points 2 clamped rod (wing spar) in front view. At the side ends of this spar 1 weights M are attached equidistant from the center of symmetry of the rod. If this system of elastically coupled masses is brought out of the rest position shown in Fig.ia by a force pulse P directed towards the center of the bar, the deflection of the resilient bar 1 shown in Fig. 1b occurs, supported by the influence of the lateral masses M. The masses M swing until they hit the stops 3. Then they swing around 6c the new centers of oscillation 3 with significantly shortened radii and increased angular velocity. Since the masses strive to maintain their speed, the surface parts still outside the masses are moved faster because the ratio of their oscillation radius to that of the masses increases.
The result is an accelerated over-speeding of the mass-loaded free spring or Bar ends from the dotted position in Fig. Ic to the fully drawn end position. Corresponding to the increased spring tension, the automatic springing back into the dotted position now takes place at approximately the same speed (Fig. Id). If, when this ίο position is reached or in the zero position, an impulse P ' (Fig , which are attached analogously to the lower stops 3, 3, come into effect and here cause the same final acceleration and reversal of movement, as described above. When the spar 1 snaps back from the lowest limit position shown in ao Fig. Ic into the dotted position shown in full in Fig. Id, the velocity of the mass theoretically gradually regains its original value, which it had before the reversal of movement. Theoretically, then, the amount of kinetic energy on each side would have to be the same. In practice, however, it has become smaller by the amount of internal rod friction and air resistance damping, which is why the force impulses P or P ' mentioned must be applied to the oscillating system in order to overcome these resistances in order to maintain the movement. can only be disproportionately small fractions of the total vibrating energies.
Fig. 2 shows the corresponding positions af on a flapping wing aircraft in a schematic front view using the stops 3, 3 and 4, 4, while Fig. 3 shows the associated settings af the flight level S and the directions of the drag forces occurring on this. From this it can be seen that when an elastic, weight-loaded front edge spar is arranged at both ends and when stops are used, the front edge of the surface in every direction and phase of movement is constantly ahead of the other surface areas and the rear edge in a known manner, since the masses are or are the carriers of the movement The moving forces only attack the masses, while the passive flight surface must remain under the influence of the air resistance that generates propulsion. This results in the wing positions and rotations shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
The operations described above can now be practiced in various ways. In the drawings, Fig. 4 and 5, two of these possible embodiments are shown for example. Since the attachment of stops 3, 3 or 4, 4 according to FIGS. 1 and 2 would practically be associated with difficulties, a device of the type shown in FIG. 4 can be used as their replacement. In place of the undivided spring bar 1 of FIG. 1, two bars 1 which are elastically coupled to one another in any way, for example by the illustrated spring bridge 7 and which in turn are arranged to swing around the axis of rotation 2, are used. These spars with an expediently circular cross-section are held rigid and non-deformable, but go outward into elastic spar continuations 1 'which, not far from their ends, are loaded with weights M of any shape in the manner already described. The oscillating movement is imparted to the spars 1 by the elastic coupling or bridge 7 with the aid of the connecting rod 6, which in turn is set in upward and downward movement in any way. To reduce friction between the spar ends and the bridge 7 driving them, the former can be provided with rollers 8. If this system is now set into oscillation with the aid of the force pulses P or P ' , the frequency acceleration according to the invention of the elastic spar tips can be achieved in that the movement of the drive bridge 7 is suddenly blocked or inhibited. This can be achieved in various ways, for example by means of stops provided within the aircraft fuselage or by means of a crank mechanism connected to the connecting rod 6. The immediate consequence of such a sudden inhibition of movement of the driving bridge 7 is an elastic, accelerated overturning of the resilient and mass-loaded spar parts i, as was described for the stops 3, 3 and 4, 4 of FIG. 1.
Another practically possible embodiment is shown schematically in Fig. 5; here the oscillation movement takes place in the form of a parallel displacement of the spar, as can be seen from the drawing.
