Description
Digestion of rock phosphates with hydrochloric acid If rock phosphates with Hydrochloric acid are digested, remain in the further processing of the Phosphates Caustic solutions of calcium chloride, which are an annoying, unusable waste product represent. These lyes can then be used again to generate free hydrochloric acid be made that they in a known manner with magnesium sulfate or this containing salt mixtures brings together. The magnesium sulphate settles in the process with the calcium chloride according to the equation Mg S04 + CaCl $ -MgClp + CaS04, and it can consequently from the reaction mixture in a manner known per se by means of steam free hydrochloric acid can be produced again. Almost all of the raw phosphate digestion Used hydrochloric acid can be determined according to the applicant's investigations on this Recover wise and reuse to digest new amounts of phosphate. Theoretically With this method, a certain amount of hydrochloric acid would suffice to produce unlimited : Digest quantities of rock phosphates. Practically it can be used in proportion Bring very large amounts of phosphate to digestion in addition to the hydrochloric acid introduced. Special The process is important for the digestion of carbonate-containing phosphates, because in contrast to the digestion of phosphates with sulfuric acid, the Carbonate consumed hydrochloric acid again and again through the conversion with magnesium sulfate can be made usable.
The invention thus consists in the combination of the production of hydrochloric acid from calcium chloride using magnesium sulfate with the well-known hydrochloric acid digestion of rock phosphates, optionally containing magnesium sulfate Salt mixtures instead of magnesium sulfate.
At the same time, the process enables the to be used in hydrochloric acid production resulting alkaline magnesium oxide residue. This residue can for the precipitation of the phosphoric acid which has dissolved during the digestion of the phosphate to serve.
Magnesium sulfate-containing compounds can also be used with advantage in the process Potash salts are used because they produce alkaline mixtures of potash salts which are easily sold in agriculture. The procedure has in in this case the special advantage that there are no unusable residues revealed in its implementation.
