Description
The invention relates to metal vapor or noble gas rectifiers with anode grids, their The neutralization surfaces run parallel to the arc path. These grids are known to serve to prevent reignition in the rectifiers mentioned by the fact that the in the blocking times to the then negative anodes flowing glow discharges that easily turn into arc discharges and thus give rise to re-ignition, either completely suppressed or at least weakened to such an extent that it is weakened can no longer be dangerous to the operation of the rectifier.
The grids acting as ion trapping electrodes can be attached or isolated be conductively connected to the anode protection tube, if this is made of metal.
The previous grids have the disadvantage that they, once inserted into the rectifier, cannot be readjusted or changed during operation. It is true an adjustable device acting in the manner of a grid, which is attached to the anode protection tube the rectifier is arranged, known; by adjusting this device however, the passage cross-section for the arc is changed. In contrast for this purpose, according to the invention, those acting as neutralization surfaces are parallel to the Arc-path running surfaces of the anode grid are arranged so that they can be adjusted, that when they are adjusted, the passage cross section of the grid for the arc remains unchanged remain. The grid surfaces can be adjusted across and parallel to the arc path be. The anode grids will advantageously be made from wound metal strips; the The grid surfaces are then adjusted in a particularly simple manner by deformation the same. The metal strips can be mechanically and electrically subdivided and be formed from compensation strips. The grid surfaces can be known per se Way to run electromagnetically adjustable.
In der Zeichnung ist ein Ausführungsbeispiel dargestellt. An exemplary embodiment is shown in the drawing.
In the anode protection tube 1, the grid 2 is inserted immediately in front of the anode. The grid 2 consists of band-shaped metal strips 3 and 4, which at 5 either with each other connected or isolated from each other. The grid is held at 6, 7 and 8. At 6 there is an adjusting screw 9. By actuating it, the turns are turned of the grid, as indicated by dotted lines, can change.
The new grid can from time to time by placing on the screw 9 from the outside can be set.
Gemäß der Erfindung ist es auch möglich, das Gitter in der Weise veränderlich auszugestalten, daß man es aus einander thermisch kompensierenden Metallteilen zusammensetzt, derart, daß sich das Gitter bei Änderungen derAccording to the invention, it is also possible to design the grid in such a way that it can be changed that it is composed of each other thermally compensating metal parts, such that the grid changes when the
Temperature in front of the anode depending on the load in different ways opens so that, depending on the operating conditions, the arc is wider or narrower Finds ways of passage.
The anode grid can either be adjusted mechanically, when the rectifier is out of operation, or electromagnetically during operation.
