Hydrostatic measuring method It is known to measure hydrostatic pressure heights pneumatically by continuously letting compressed air flow out in limited quantities through the opening of a dip tube located below the liquid level and measuring the air pressure prevailing at the opening. If h is the immersion depth of the opening and s is the specific weight of the liquid, then the measured air pressure is h # s. If one of the two quantities is known, the other can be calculated. It is also known to measure the difference between two hydrostatic pressure according to this method by reacting such, determines the difference las-lä s' more in the rest of independent measuring points. A special compressed air supply is required for each measuring point and the amounts of compressed air flowing out through both immersion tubes must be made equal to one another in order to prevent the result from being falsified by the flow resistance. If the two air quantities are not the same, then the flow pressure is also different. Even if you make sure that the flow pressure is very low, this fact is disturbing in the measurement, especially when it comes to the measurement of small differences.
The present invention switches the influence of different flow rates
the compressed air or another auxiliary fluid by allowing one and
to send the same auxiliary fluid flow one after the other through the dip tubes, the flow velocities
so inevitably to make equal or proportionate. To this end, will
the auxiliary fluid emerging from the first dip tube is collected in a collecting space
and from here to the next immersion tube with the lower hydrostatic pressure
fed. You can 'this collecting space through a wide pipe without constrictions
Connect to the next immersion tube when the circumstances are favorable. Consists
but there is a risk of disturbing vibrations, for example due to the rhythmic discharge of bubbles
occur, it is advisable to switch on throttling in the connection
dampen the vibrations.
in Fig. i der Zeichnung schematisch dargestellt.
An arrangement suitable for using the method is shown schematically, for example, in FIG. 1 of the drawing. Let the mirror heights h, h ', h " or the specific gravity"s', s "and their differences of three mutually independent liquids be measured. Compressed air enters through e, d is a throttling that limits the amount of air to the desired level. The first immersion tube t is surrounded by a bell g in which the emerging air bubbles collect. The hydrostatic pressure at the mouth of t is given by the immersion depth la and the specific weight s, independent of the pressure prevailing in the Glockeg, and can be measured by a measuring instrument -sh. The air flows from the bell g through a connecting line and, if necessary, a throttle d ' to the second immersion tube t', the muzzle pressure of which is indicated by a measuring instrument s 'h'. A pressure difference meter h-s'h 'connected between t and t' shows the difference between the two pressures. In the same way, any number of additional immersion tubes can be flowed through by the same amount of air. Since the amount of air at all immersion tubes and outlet openings is the same, the flow pressure changes to the same extent for all of them, and when the pressure differences are measured, this uncertain variable is eliminated.
mit dem spezifischen Gewicht s. Beiderseits eines Staugeräts, etwa eines Staurandes;
A further example is explained in FIG. 2, in which the flow velocity w in a pipeline is to be measured. A liquid with the specific gravity flows through the line on both sides of a storage device, such as a storage edge; standing vessels are connected in which the liquid adjusts itself with a height difference 1-f proportional to the square of the velocity w. This difference in height is measured by two dip tubes t, t ' , through which one and the same amount of air flows according to the method described.
vorhergehenden Beispielen. In Fig. 3 a means for determining the specific gravity is one tapering at z, and flowing in a liquid schematically depicted s: The two openings of the immersion tubes T, T 'have a known difference in height h-h', which from the measured hydrostatic pressure difference (h-h ') s gives the specific weight. The names are the same as in the previous examples.
in Betracht.
The method is not limited to air or gas as the auxiliary fluid and can be used in the most varied of arrangements wherever the measurement or control of variables is concerned that result in hydrostatic pressure differences. When measuring heavy liquids (mercury, liquid phosphorus or the like), oil, water or another lighter liquid can be used as auxiliary fluid. If the pressure of the liquid serving as auxiliary fluid cannot be measured directly, the difference in the auxiliary fluid values can be measured according to the same method with the aid of a second auxiliary fluid, for example compressed air. In Fig. Q. an example of this is shown in which the flow velocity w of a gas or a liquid with the specific gravity is to be measured. An auxiliary fluid, for example water, flows in at e, overflows at t under pressure la in front of the reservoir edge, collects in g, falls into a second vessel, from where it overflows under pressure 1i behind the reservoir edge at t 'and then through g 'flows off. The difference between the water level heights h and h ', which cannot be measured directly because of the different altitudes, is measured according to the method described by compressed air flowing in at e'.
