Description
Process for the production of condensation products from polyvalent Alcohols, higher monobasic fatty acids and resin acids It has been found that Valuable condensation products of a resinous or oil-like character can be found in practical use quantitative yield is obtained when alcohols containing more than 3 OH groups with higher monobasic fatty acids and with resin acids by heating to temperatures condensed from i 5o to 300 °.
As polyhydric alcohols such. B. in question: pentaerythritol, sorbitol, Mannitol or mixtures of these etc., including carbohydrates such as glucose, starch, cellulose i.a. The following are suitable as higher fatty acids: linseed oil acids or a mixture of fatty acids, that is produced during the saponification of linseed oil, wood oleic acids, ricinoleic acid, oleic acid, Montanic acid, stearic acid and the like. B. Koilophonium, acidic Copals and similar resins and the resin acids and the like on which they are based be used. The condensation can either be made so that one all reactants in the desired ratio together at a higher temperature, possibly using pressure, vacuum or a gas or vapor stream or in Presence of condensing agents, heated, or that one the organic acids successively brings the polyhydric alcohol to action or the desired Represents esters by transesterification. Let the properties of the products obtained still change to a large extent by subjecting them to post-treatment. Man for this purpose it can be mixed with oxygen or sulfur or with or containing them. treat releasing substances, e.g. B. with air, possibly at elevated temperature and / or b, in the presence of carriers, such as siccatives, blow or vulcanize. Further the products can be voltolized or polymerized by heat or condensation agents; you can also use decolorizing agents, such as decolorizing carbon, fuller's earth or sulfur dioxide, if necessary, can be bleached.
The products obtained according to the present process are created by Condensation of monobasic acids with polyhydric alcohols are chemical different from the known hardenable resins of the so-called glyptal resin type, where polybasic organic acids possibly together with monobasic acids and / or resin acids are brought to condensation with polyhydric alcohols, where as a result of the use of polybasic acids a chain of the individual Alcohol molecules by esterification with one carboxyl group each of the polybasic Acids. The new products are suitable for the most diverse Purposes, possibly with the use of suitable additives. You come z. B., so far they contain residues of drying fatty acids in connection with solvents for paint purposes into consideration, whereby the use of siccatives, z. B. for indoor and Exterior paints, is recommended. - These varnishes can also be used with body paints or fill materials and are characterized by very excellent drying properties Properties ahead of the usual way by fusing resins with fats Products obtained from oils. Cellulose esters can also be incorporated into the paints will. Certain condensation products, especially those that are non-drying residues Containing acids are also used as plasticizers for various purposes, e.g. B. for art masses, etc., usable, their neutrality being more resinous at the same time and oily character as well as their good compatibility with Nitrocelltrlose are an advantage is.
