The present invention relates to a method for producing white and pure Pectin by treating solutions of the pectin with acetone. In this treatment low volume gels are obtained which are dried at low temperature, whereby a dry, white and pure pectin results. It is known that the evaporation of the Pectin solutions, whatever their origin, must be made in a vacuum if one wants to obtain a dry pectin that has retained all of its properties. One such Product is more or less brown and gives off a liquid when dissolved in water deeper color than the starting solution that was used to make the pectin. With Consideration of the colloidal properties of pectin makes it the greatest difficulty To keep pectin in a dry state,
The method according to the present invention aims to circumvent all of these deficiencies, by having the property of pectin, precipitated from aqueous solution by acetone too are used, the gel has sufficient strength, if the applied amount Acetone is chosen sufficiently large.
B. in Auslaugern (Diffuseuren) unterworfen. A pectin solution that is as pure as possible is expediently mixed with acetone in a ratio of 2 volumes Acetone was added to 3 volumes of the pectin solution. So you get a gel that easily does that can be strongly squeezed so that it does not exceed 30 to 50% of the volume of the applied Pectin solution. The press cake thus obtained is again exposed to the action of acetone z. B. in leachers (diffusers) subject. So the liquid bound by the gel is strongly enriched with acetone, what leads to a better end product and to a reduction in volume of the mass, their Structural elements become more solid.
This gel is then subjected to a very strong pressure, and only has a volume of 6 to o ° / 0 of the volume of the originally related pectin. The press cake is dried in devices with hot walls at a low temperature. The vapors are collected to recover the acetone. Ultimately, only the dry pectin remains in the oven, which is then finely powdered for sales purposes. The acetone that was used for this treatment is distilled to separate it from the water and the impurities it has carried with it.
