Description
Device for registering an organ or similar pipe instruments With the pipe organ, as it is built to this day, you get a change in the timbre mainly by using the pipes of the different das Voices (rows of pipes) composing pipework differently, as lip or Tongues pipes build, they bore narrower or wider and the lip pipes with low or high cuts as well as with @different shaped beards, they in the overblown the first overtone, etc. All these measures cause a change the strength ratio of the partials composing the whistle sound (partials) to each other and thus the difference in the timbres of the individual registers or voices.
The basic idea of the invention is that all organ timbres to share from their inventory without exception, d. H. from the characteristics that are characteristic of them to artificially build up harmonic partials. In this respect, this idea is not complete new, as well as in the ordinary organ there are voices according to their pitch Represent partials of the basic sound, namely the so-called auxiliary voices ((fifths, Thirds, sevenths) and mixed voices (mixture, cornet, etc.). But these voices serve almost exclusively to reinforce the full work and step the number strongly behind the other votes. In contrast, after the Invention. All harmonic partials of the organ sounds produced individually by pipes and through their harmony the impression of a unified one for the ear Timbre arise.
This requirement has a corresponding redesign of the pipework result. Since each pipe only represents a single note in the sound, it must too be built in such a way that, if possible, it produces only this one tone, namely hers own keynote, without resonance of harmonic overtones. This is achieved through exclusive use of relatively wide bored labial pipes, which, as usual, are cylindrical or prismatic or also bulbous (bottle-shaped) or can be spherical and also advantageously with the lowest possible Wind pressure are blown. Overblowing (octaving) pipes can also be used Advantage can be used. Then the individual rows of pipes differ essentially no longer through the timbre of each other, but only through the tone strength, its regulation as usual by different wind influx and corresponding The pipes are scaled.
In order to limit the number of pipes to a minimum, the so-called transmission system can be used with the addition that the individual rows of pipes can not only be connected to the various keyboards (manuals, pedals) in different octaves, but in all pitches , which correspond to the harmonic partials of the basic sound up to a certain height, up to about the tenth partial, wholly or almost in pitch. This has the further advantage that in the pipe work of the organ there are no two or more pipes of the same pitch, scale and wind conditions, which could cause disturbances through interference when they sound together. Experiments have shown the surprising result that in addition to the fifths and ninths, which correspond to the third, sixth and ninth partial tones and come very close to the tempered pitch, the third and seventh positions corresponding to the partial tones 5, 10 and 7 can also be transmitted through transmission one and the same row of pipes, which also produces the basis and the octaves in the previous embodiment of the transmission and this, despite the fact that the natural thirds (partials 5 and io) are %, semitones lower than the tempered thirds represented here. The uniformity of the timbres is not disturbed by this difference in mood. The tempering of the fifth (and tenth) partials also has the advantage that consonant chords become almost as melodious as if they were produced in an absolutely pure (natural) tuning of all tones. In order to achieve certain musical effects, one or more rows of pipes can also be arranged in a precise natural third pitch to produce the fifth and tenth partial and the seventh partial, which is very close in pitch (tuning), in the required pitch.
The number of rows of pipes can still be reduced as a result be that you can use the same individually or in groups in swell boxes according to the type of known blind rocker includes.
A pipework according to the invention in conjunction with a corresponding one An expanded transmission structure not only results in an equal number of pipes much greater variety of tone colors available than the usual System, but also allows the composition of completely new sounds, the produced neither on the ordinary organ nor by other musical instruments can be.
In the pictures there is an organ that shows in what way the action for the implementation of the inventive idea, for example can be executed. In Fig. I the pneumatic version is the characteristic one Parts - action and wind chest K - of the organ work in a partial view after the cut A-B. (Fig.2). Fig. 2 shows the organ in section C-D (Fig. I), Fig. 3 gives an example of how several pipes are arranged in a swell box can.
In Fig. I, for the sake of clarity, the gaming table equipment is not shown; it can be carried out as usual and is shown in section in Fig. 2. The play wind supplied from the gaming table through the tubes i, 2, 3, etc. enters the key chambers ii, 12, 13, etc. of the action wind chest. Instead, he could move pneumatic relays of the usual type, which give the key chambers a breath of fresh air. Above the key chambers, a group of smaller tone chambers 2, 1, 22, 23, etc. runs perpendicular to them, each of which is connected through a tube 31 to the bellows 4i of the wind valve 5 1 of a whistle. Each pipe thus has a valve that can move independently of: the others and receives its wind directly from the common wind box 6o; it only appears divided in the illustration, but in reality forms a coherent whole. In Fig. I the four are now pulled out of the row of pipes, the z. B. serve to the composition of the C tone. Loops 81, 82, 83 provided with bores 70 between the key and tone chambers are of the usual type, but with smaller dimensions, which run obliquely and, in the rest position, the vertically superimposed bores 9o in the ceiling of the key chambers and in the bottom of the Tonkanzellen a1ischlude from each other, but create a connection between key and Tonkanzellen in such a way that the wind of each key chamber can step into each Tonkanvelle as soon as the key chamber is filled with wind by pressing a key. In order to prevent the wind from stepping back out of the tone chamber into another key chamber (this stepping back would be possible as soon as two or more loops are shifted), each hole 9o in the bottom of the tone chamber is equipped with a check valve (e.g. leather strips) qo covered. Depending on the place where the loops are attached in the action wind chest, the row of key chambers can be connected in any way with the row of tone chambers, so that one and the same row of pipes can be played on the keyboard in any desired pitch. The figure shows five loops, which make the corresponding row of pipes playable in the 8 ', 4', 223 'and 2' pitches. plan can either assign a special action wind chest of the type K, M etc. (Fig. 2) described above to each row of pipes or, if necessary, use one and the same row of tones of different voices -]) to wrestle together. Furthermore, it is also possible to attach tone chambers not only above but also below the key chambers, which means that the key chambers can be shortened considerably if necessary.
In the example of Figure 2, 5 is a key that is activated by means of a Game valve 6 the air supply to the Kana17 and the connected key cells i i of the action wind chest K or one of the above-! the wind chest 111 releases. Above the key cell 11 you can see the tone cells 21, 22 etc. and between them and the key cell the loops 81, 82, 83 us-, v., which in a known manner from Registers can be moved. For the sake of clarity, these are not marked with. Additional wind chests can be used via the action wind chests K and M. are arranged, each of which is connected to a row of pipes.
If, for example, the loops of the action wind chest K have the values shown in Fig. i position shown and the tone C is to be composed of tones from this wind chest button 5 is pressed, valve 6 rises and lets the wind through the canal 7 in the key chamber i I, full where it goes through the holes of the loops 81, 82, etc. gets into the Tonkanzellen 21, 21a, 28a, 2, b. From there it flows through the pipes 31, 31a, 38a, 31b to the bellows 44 4Ia, 4 $ a, 41v. The bellows move the associated valves 51, 51a etc., which the wind from the channel 6o into the pipes C, Let in c, g, c '. In the same way, the other tones become C sharp, D, etc. from the root and overtones.
in natürlicher Terzstimmung).
Of course you can also use the pipe system according to the invention combine what has been used up to now by adding one or more rows of pipes with overtone intonation, i.e. those with a pronounced timbre, adds. This connection is musically particularly satisfactory when a register: "Thirds interchange" is arranged, by means of which the approximately just in effect tempered third and seventh registers each time through those in pure, natural tuning can be replaced when the overtone voices sound.
