Adjustable fingerboard for plucked instruments. With plucked instruments,
-like mandolins, guitars and the like, occurs after some time as a result of the weather
and the continuous strong tension of the strings, a warping or bending of the neck.
The consequence of this is that the distance between the strings and the fingerboard becomes unequal,
the handles become uneven and the tones impure. They are different institutions
became known, which are supposed to control the said evil, but the purpose became
not reached. So you have a string holder and a saddle on the instruments
attached, whose webs are adjustable in the height direction. This makes it possible
to bring the strings closer to or from the fingerboard over their entire length
remove it, but not anywhere on the fingerboard, as it would with a bent one
Neck would be necessary. Furthermore, a string instrument has become known that with a
hollow metal neck is provided on which a screw adjustable
Fretboard is attached. In this case, the fingerboard can be underlaid with the help of
Wedges raised and lowered parallel to the strings and also with one or the other
End up askew to the same.
In contrast, the invention aims at stringed instruments with a warped
Neck not to adjust the fingerboard as a whole, but only at the point
at which it is necessary. The innovation is that the fingerboard consists of two
Glued together parts and small screws like this in three places
attached to it with a small collar between these two fingerboard parts
are inserted; the lower threaded part of the screws turn in
small nuts embedded in the neck of the instrument. This must be the way
Raise or lower the fingerboard at this point when turning a screw.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the invention.

The fingerboard according to the invention is separate from the instrument itself
and from two pieces glued together, an upper, stronger board a and one
lower thin board b, made. There are two adjusting screws in three or more places
c, which is inserted with a round collar d between the fingerboard parts a and b
are; its lower threaded shaft e screws into a square one
Threaded nut f, which is embedded in the neck g of the instrument and glued on by the
Veneer wood 72 is secured. If one of these screws is turned, the fingerboard must
as a result of the driver collar d give way at this point, it rises or falls,
while it remains in the rest. So you have it in your hand, the fingerboard
always to be placed higher or lower only in those places where it is bent
and is inaccurate. It does not matter whether the neck of the instrument or the
Fretboard is simply bent or warped around a corner. Is z. B. the instrument neck
g bent down in the middle and thus the distance between the strings and the fingerboard
larger at this point than in the rest of the part, turn the two middle screws
until the fingerboard has lifted so much that the string spacing is restored
is normal.
