The reaction is usually carried out at a temperature of -70 to 150 ° C, preferably 40 to 70 ° C.
This is followed by the processing, which is done in this way, for example can that the reaction mixture is mixed with water, the or separates the ganic phase, which removes the diluent, the back stood treated with n-hexane and from a suitable solution medium recrystallized.

The thiophenes of the formula I are advantageously suitable for use in nonlinear optics.
The compounds of the invention are thermally stable and ver add particularly large molecular hyperpolarizability values (β). The dyes are also well tolerated speed with the com in nonlinear optical systems polymers and good film formation properties in Copolymers.
Oktober 1990, Seiten 600 bis 608).The determination of the molecular hyperpolarizability can e.g. B. according to the solvatochromism measurement method (see for example Z. Natur Research, Volume 20a, pages 1441 to 1471, 1965, or J. Org. Chem., Vol. 54, pages 3775 to 3778, 1989. Man determines the position of the absorption band of a compound in various solvents, e.g. B. in dioxane or dimethyl sulfoxide. The shift in the absorption band is then direct proportional to the β value, i.e. H. Connections with large solvatochro mer shift have a large molecular hyperpolarizable speed and are therefore not suitable for use in linear optical systems (see for example Chemistry and Industry, October 1, 1990, pages 600 to 608).
In particular, the suitability of the new substances in the Telecommunications, in electro-optical modulators (e.g. mach Zehnder inferometer), in optical switches, at frequency mix or highlight in waveguides.

1,62 g (3,53 mmol) Stannylthiophen aus Beispiel 11
1.02 g (3,53 mmol) 2-(2,2-Dicyanovinyl)-5-iodthiophen
126 mg (0,177 mmol) Dichlorbis (triphenylphosphin)palladium
55 ml Tetrahydrofuran
Reaktionsbedingungen: siehe B) Allgemeine Arbeitsvorschrift zur
Herstellung der Bithiophene
Reaktionsdauer: 1 h 30 min
1.62 g (3.53 mmol) stannylthiophene from Example 11
1.02 g (3.53 mmol) of 2- (2,2-dicyanovinyl) -5-iodothiophene
126 mg (0.177 mmol) dichlorobis (triphenylphosphine) palladium 55 ml tetrahydrofuran
Reaction conditions: see B) General working instructions for the preparation of the bithiophenes
Reaction time: 1 h 30 min
After extraction, the mixture was dissolved in hot toluene under argon, briefly refluxed with silica gel and filtered off hot. The silica gel was washed hot with toluene with the addition of a little methanol. The collected extracts were mixed with n-hexane until a blue-black precipitate separated. The precipitate was brought to a saturated solution in the heat, and the bithiophene soon crystallized out at room temperature. A second batch could be obtained by concentrating the mother liquor. The blue crystallizing product was crystallized once more from toluene / n-hexane (2: 1 v / v). The crystals were collected, washed with n-hexane and dried over paraffin in a high vacuum.
Yield: 0.983 g (61%) in the form of black and blue crystals
Ansatz:
0,351 g (0,765 mmol) Bithiophen aus Beispiel 12
16 ml Essigsäure
8 ml Tetrahydrofuran
4 ml Wasser
schnitzel.
Ausbeute: 0,162 g (57%) in Form von blau-schwarzen KristallenApproach:
0.351 g (0.765 mmol) of bithiophene from Example 12
16 ml acetic acid
8 ml tetrahydrofuran
4 ml water
The bithiophene protected as acetal was stirred with a mixture of acetic acid, tetrahydrofuran and water (4: 2: 1 v / v / v) at 55 ° C and the course of the reaction was followed using a densitometer. After 10 h, the solvent was distilled off at 30 ° C. under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in toluene under argon, silica gel was added and the mixture was filtered with the addition of a little abs. Methanol hot off and washed the residue until no intensive coloration of the filtrate was visible. The combined organic extracts were concentrated under reduced pressure, crystallized from toluene / n-hexane (20: 1 v / v), the crystals were collected and washed with n-hexane. For further purification, the product was again crystallized from toluene / n-hexane (5: 1 v / v). The pure product was dried in a high vacuum over paraffin schnitzel.
Yield: 0.162 g (57%) in the form of blue-black crystals
