Abstract

In the prodn. of a gas- and liq.-tight spot welded sheet joint, aq. dispersion of a synthetic material (pref. an acrylic foam paint), which foams under the action of heat during spot welding, is applied to the overlap region of at least one of the sheet parts prior to welding.

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Herstellen einer gas- und flüssigkeitsdichten punktgeschweißten Blechver­ bindung, wobei auf zumindest eines der miteinander zu ver­ bindenden Blechteile im Überlappungsbereich ein Dichtmate­ rial aufgetragen wird und dann die Punktschweißung durch­ geführt wird. Bei der Herstellung gas- und flüssigkeits­ dichter Verbindungen von Stahlblechteilen, wie elektri­ sches Widerstandsschweißen, zum Beispiel nach dem Buckel­ verfahren entsprechend DIN 1910, Teil 5, werden bestimmte Anforderungen an die Dichtheit im Verbindungsbereich ge­ genüber gasförmigen und/oder flüssigen Medien gestellt. In der Praxis werden pastöse oder dauerelastische Dichtstoffe im Überlappungsbereich auf eines der Bleche raupenförmig aufgetragen. Das Auftragen muß mit großer Sorgfalt erfol­ gen, damit der Schweißbereich metallisch blank bleibt. Bei der dann folgenden Handhabung der mit der Raupe versehenen Blechteile muß darauf geachtet werden, daß die aufgetrage­ ne Raupe nicht verwischt und das Dichtmaterial insbesonde­ re nicht auf den Schweißbereich gelangt, weil dann der Schweißvorgang entweder vollständig verhindert wird oder die Verbindung mangelhaft und unzuverlässig wird. Diese Aufgabe wird dadurch gelöst, daß auf den Überlappungsbereich eine wäßrige Dispersion eines un­ ter der Wärmeeinwirkung beim Punktschweißen aufschäumenden Kunststoffes aufgetragen wird. Vorzugsweise soll eine wäßrige Dispersion einer Acrylschaum-Farbe aufgetragen werden. Bedingt durch die relativ niedrige Reaktionswärme, die zum Aufschäumen der Acrylschaum-Farbe notwendig ist, reicht die beim Schweißen entstehende Prozeßwärme aus, um die Reaktion, d. h. das Aufschäumen auszulösen. Beim Auf­ schäumen füllt die Acrylschaum-Farbe durch die dabei auf­ tretende Volumenvergrößerung auch Spalten aus.
