Description
The present invention is based on that of the patent 41 41 348 included the preamble of the main claim designed to control a Windshield wiper system.
Such devices are particularly intended for one on the front or rear window one Motor vehicle existing liquid or solid coating qualitatively and quantitatively and dependent including a windscreen wiper system assigned to the windscreen to influence automatically, d. that is, the same for cleaning the Put the pane into operation in particular at intervals.
So hat der Kraftfahrzeugbenutzer in dem einen Fall das Gefühl, daß geringfügig zu häufig und in dem anderen Fall das Gefühl, daß geringfügig nicht häufig genug gewischt wird.DE 33 14 770 C1 is a device for controlling a wiper motor, the one optoelectronic sensor device and one with the Drive motor connected circuit arrangement, so that depending on the topping on the disc Control of the drive motor can be made. These However, the facility does not have any resources Detection of raindrops hitting the window allows for their size. So the facility can The wiping cycle frequency does indeed correspond to that during the wiping operation changing quantitatively conditions of the surface on the Disc such. B. degree of pollution, quantitative impact rain or snow, reasonably satisfactory adjust automatically. An exact automatic adjustment of the Wiping cycle frequency due to the different Size of the falling raindrops different degree of impairment of visibility is however relatively small in relation to the disc Measuring surface of the sensor device is not satisfactory possible. So the motor vehicle user has in the one case feel that slightly too often and in the other case the feeling that a little is not wiped often enough.
Furthermore, DE 26 30 470 A1 is a device for controlling motor vehicle windshield wiper systems known. In this known device is about strength-selecting intermediate outputs of the pulse amplifier and a moisture evaluation using counter circuits made, the humidity sensor determining the humidity works on a capacitive basis and that Moisture assessment is not used to determine certain Wiping strategies used.
In addition, WO 90/08680 is a device become known, for the control of drive means such. B. for windscreen wipers, wiper-washer systems, sunroofs and Hoods of motor vehicles depending on the exterior Moisture or pollution is provided. At this Establishment takes place on a resistive basis Moisture sensor use. With resistive moisture sensors comes However, because of the large measuring area, the smallest Wetting to determine moisture. Not with this If a wipe cycle is triggered prematurely, the Occurrence of low rainfall suppressed wiping cycles become. For this purpose, not only the decrease trend of the Resistance, but it is also determined by the amount which the resistance decreases. Besides, only those Signals with a view to controlling the Wiper motor evaluated by the sensor during given at the time when the Wipers on the way from the sensor to his Starting position is. This is particularly the case so that the windscreen wiper does not dry out prematurely of the sensor remains in the middle of the pane and thus then also a start impulse to the wiper motor is released when water is only on the disc hits when the wiper blades touch the sensor at their Returned to the starting position for the last time to have.
So muß z. In addition, it is known with such a facility special Measures to detect fog (very small Water droplets). Because bridging two Not traces using very small water droplets possible and therefore not wetting the pane is detectable by adding a third Trace the distance between two to be bridged Conductor tracks reduced. Adding another But conductor track does not only mean that the sensor is on and for needs to be changed structurally, but in addition also the environment of the sensor has to be adjusted. So z. B. for Contacting the third conductor track additionally one appropriate contact point created and the disc to Elaboration of the third conductor track worked out accordingly become.
Alternatively, one consisting of two conductor tracks Sensor proposed specifically for the detection of fog so-called fog switching with its own threshold value.
Such a fog circuit is only after Activated elapse of a predetermined time, where a Wiping frequency above this time is not used. In order to can in this alternative but by no means from one sensitive adjustment of the wiping operation to the existing circumstances are spoken.
However, moisture sensors working on an optical basis have because of their small measuring area, about 5-20 times smaller as working on a capacitive or resistive basis Moisture sensors, the problem is too insensitive to rough distributed large raindrops to react.
The object of the patents 41 41 348 is the task based on an optically based device for Control of a windshield wiper system to create the Wipe cycle frequency automatically on qualitative and / or quantitatively changing states of the existing on the disc Coating very sensitively. In addition to this already task accomplished by the features of patent 41 41 348 the wiping operation of a windshield wiper system should also in Dependence of the rain forms hitting the disc (large or small raindrops) particularly sensitive be tuned without increasing the measuring area or a structural change in the sensor device or their environment needs.

Fig. 2 ein Diagramm mit einem für eine bestimmte Regenform typischen Signalverlauf sowie ein Diagramm der zugehörigen Scheibenwischeraktion 2 is a diagram with a typical for a particular rain waveform shape as well as a diagram of the associated windscreen wiper action.
Fig. 3 is a diagram with a specific form for a further rain typical waveform and a diagram of the associated windscreen wiper actions.
As can be seen from the drawing, a device for controlling a windshield wiper system essentially consists of a switch arrangement 1 , an optoelectronic sensor device 2 and a circuit arrangement 3 . On the one hand, the sensor device 2 or the circuit arrangement 3 and, on the other hand, a drive motor 4 actuating the windshield wiper arms or the windshield wiper blades 5 are activated via the switch arrangement 1 . The drive motor 4 is assigned a switch contact device 6 , by means of which the parking position and the start or end signal of the running time of the windshield wiper blades 5 can be detected for the transit time detection arrangement assigned to the circuit arrangement 3 . In addition, the circuit arrangement 3 has an integrated means designed as a signal pattern recognition arrangement and an at least two counter element rainform detection device 8 .
As can be seen in particular from FIG. 1, in order to activate the windshield wiper system, the switch arrangement 1 must be brought from its switching stage Off 0 into its automatic A switching stage. In the automatic A switching stage, the interval wiping and continuous wiping functions are combined in speed level I. In addition, the switch arrangement 1 can be brought into the switching stage between II, in which the windshield wiper system is operated in the speed stage II.
If the switch arrangement 1 is brought into its automatic switching stage A, a wiping cycle t is triggered in any case to form an output reference value. If there is a coating (e.g. rain) on the outer surface of the window 7 when the automatic A switching stage is switched on, one of the two window wiper blades 5 runs twice over the measuring range of the sensor device 2 during a wiping cycle t to clean the outer surface. Recognizes the circuit 3 by the signals of the sensor device 2 according to the second wiper crossing process during a wiping cycle t a newly, (z. B. heavy rain) the view debilitating coating on the outer surface of the disc 7, so, after the windshield wiper blade 5 its parking position has reached (end of wiping cycle t), a new wiping cycle t starts immediately. Recognizes the circuit 3 by the sensor device 2, however, after the second transfer wiping operation during a wipe cycle t a (slightly cloudy z. B.) again, the view to a small extent impairing coating on the outer surface of the disc 7, so, after the windshield wiper blade 5 its Has reached the parking position (end of the wiping cycle t), it is held in the parking position for a specific time (interval pause tp) by the switch contact device 6 . The length of the interval pause tp is determined again after each wiping cycle as a function of the new coating (for example, rain intensity) that forms on the pane 7 .
The new coating on the disk 7 can arise on the one hand from the precipitation of finely divided small droplets or on the other hand from the precipitation of coarsely distributed large drops. Often, the motor vehicle user perceives the coating on the disk 7, which consists of a few coarsely distributed large drops, as more disruptive than a coating consisting of several finely distributed small droplets. For the device for controlling the windshield wiper system, the fact that the probability that one of the few coarsely distributed large drops falls on the relatively small measuring surface of the sensor device 2 is significantly less than the probability that several of the finely distributed small droplets fall on the measuring surface of the sensor device 2 fall. It may be the case that there are many coarsely distributed large drops obstructing the view on the pane 7 without one of the drops coming to rest on the measuring surface of the sensor device 2 . So that the wiping operation can nevertheless be matched to such different types of rain, the circuit arrangement 3 is provided with a rain form detection device 8 having two counter elements. Only the signals emitted by the sensor device 2 during a detection period are used by the rainform detection device 8 for evaluation, in which a predetermined rate of change in the signal curve is exceeded. The detection period in each case represents the time period that starts shortly after the second wiping of a windshield wiper blade 5 via the sensor device 2 until a new wiping cycle is initiated. With these signals, the amplitude of the signal change is used by the rainform detection device 8 for evaluation.
In order to differentiate between the different types of rain, the rain form detection device 8 divides these signals into two categories, namely into signals whose amplitude of the signal change lies above and below a defined limit value. If the amplitude or the amplitudes of the signal change remain below this defined limit value, corresponding to the diagram shown in FIG. 2, then one of the two counter elements of the rainform detection device 8 changes in value. For the signal change example shown in FIG. 2 in an idealized manner based on precipitation of many finely divided droplets, this means a five-fold change in value of one of the two counter elements during the defined acquisition period. Starting from the initial value of zero, one counter element is increased by a factor of one to a value of five for each relevant signal change. If the signal falls below the switch-on threshold for wiping, a wiping cycle is triggered. After a wiping cycle triggered in this way, the triggering of further new wiping cycles depends solely on the signal which then arises and is emitted by the sensor device 2 . This means that if the switch-on threshold for the wiping operation is below the signal again, a new wiping cycle is also triggered. However, if the switch-on threshold is not undershot, no new wiping cycle is initiated.
If the amplitude or the amplitudes of the signal change in the diagram shown in FIG. 3 go beyond the defined limit value, the other of the two counter elements of the rainform detection device 8 changes in value. For the typical signal change example idealized in FIG. 3 related to precipitation of coarsely distributed large drops, this means a one-time change in value of the other of the two counter elements during the acquisition period. If the signal falls below the switch-on threshold for wiping, a wiping cycle is triggered. After such a triggered wiping cycle, if the signal is e.g. B. at a constantly high level (clean window), a new wipe cycle is triggered automatically after a certain period of time. If, due to precipitation, the switch-on threshold for the wiping operation falls below the automatically followed new wiping cycle, a wiping cycle is initiated immediately and the automatic wiping cycle is not carried out. Instead, the two counter elements according to the methods described above are re-evaluated by the circuit 3 and a new adapted thereto wiping strategy is determined.
Of course, rain forms also occur in practice, which differ from the two idealized examples. It can therefore be a matter of course that both the one and the other counter element experience a change in value due to the simultaneous precipitation of small and large drops during a recording period. In this case, the contents of the two counter elements are placed relative to each other just before the initiation of the wiping cycle to be triggered after a review key from the circuit arrangement. 3 Depending on the result, the appropriate wiping strategy is then defined, ie a wiping cycle follows without or with an automatically added new wiping cycle as already described.
For further rain shape determinations and controls of the windshield wiper system, the two counter elements of the rain shape detection device 8 are evaluated shortly after the start of the triggered wiping cycle, the wiping strategy is determined and the counter elements are reset to their initial value zero. This results in a windscreen wiper operation of the windscreen wiper system that is particularly sensitive to various different types of rain.
